@mskandice, ohmygod girl YAAAS!!! These are such pointless arguments.. Working moms work all day long, come home, and STILL have to wake up at night with the baby, take care of the house etc etc. stay at home moms dont get out and that takes a huge toll, its boring staying in your house with no adult communication. It gets frustrating when your baby wont stop screaming and you have no one to help you for a minute. I personally have done both, i was a stay at home mom for the first 4 months & now im a working mom. A mom is a mom whether you work or stat home!!! But honestly i think being a stay at home mom is the easier side IF YOU ONLY HAVE ONE CHILD (IN MY OPINION seeing as i only have one kid)

I am a little of both SAHM and a working mom. I work from home so I have to juggle my work production, household duties, and taking care of the baby. My husband works from home as well and while he will help with household things and outside yard maintenance... I'm still left to tend for the baby on my own. It's very difficult

my SO feels that if we have a babysitter that someone else is raising our child and I don't believe that so he works and I don't but as a stay at home mom I do a lot of work I don't just take care of our daughter I take care of our pets as well I would love to have a job and help with bills but I don't have transportation anywhere I would love to give up cooking and cleaning all day but I'm glad I get to spend all my time with my daughter

Stay at home mom's are blessed with SO's that make good $$ so we can stay at home. While my fiancee makes enough to get us by, we live on a very tight budget...why? because the cost of child care and gas would KILL any income I would bring home as a waitress. Stay at home moms can nap whenever they want... FALSE- when my little is napping I am cleaning, meal prepping, taking care of our animals (chickens, ducks, a turkey, geese, and 2 dogs), doing laundry, doing school work (full time student at UoPX), budgeting/couponing, making appointments, etc. All stay at home mom's judge working mothers... honestly, I hate mom bullies and don't have time to worry about what other mothers are doing- what works for my family may not work for yours. Kudos to the mothers who work and still hold down the fort when they're home and kudos to the mothers who stay at home and hold down the fort while your SO's are out of the home.

When people think just cause your a SAHM that you lost your independence basically stating that SAHM sit home all day doing nothing & depend on their husband. No, it is work cooking, cleaning, handling business all while full filing your little ones needs & try to squeeze your own needs in with the little bit of down time u actually do get which is sometimes literally 15 minutes & by time night time come your so exhausted you fall asleep on yourself 😔

I've had people tell me how wonderful and easy it just be to stay home all day... I want to scream and say I'm home 24/7 with 2 children I'm lucky if I get a shower in at night every few days because I'm so exhausted keeping up with them I have zero down time to take care of myself. With a husband that works full time and more jobs in the side me staying at home can be extremely lonely. I know every word to the octonauts theme song, I can quote the entire winnie the pooh movie and I'm pretty sure I can do better baby sign language than the instructors at this point. Being a stay at home mom isn't a walk in the park or a nap in the afternoon it's hard work.

sometimes I'm criticized by people who say "all you do is take care of a baby", but there's a reason babysitting is a paid job, it is work and some days it can be pretty difficult. a tiny demanding little person with their own quirks and moodswings, that you have 100% responsibility for. I've never left my daughter with a babysitter in her whole 11 months of life, so I've been working 24/7 without a day off or time to myself. I love her and I love being able to be here for her though. she won't be this little forever and I'm glad I haven't missed a single moment!

24/7 job and everyone think we sleep all day 😳 who we are lucky if we get 2 -4 hours total for the whole day. I'm a stay at home mom of three children 8 years old, 3 year old, and almost 6 month old. Husband works everyday all day but I thank him for that but it's much harder than it look. Me coming for working retail in these past 12 years I have a harder job now 😮 but would not change it for the world.

being a sahm is hard. it is a full-time job 24/7our work is NEVER done. but it is a privelege to be a sahm. we wake up when the baby wakes up, we change diapers, feed, and entertain all whilst trying to clean the house take care of animals(if you have any) and make sure you have dinner ready for your husband. it is not EASY. I worked before I had my son so I know both worlds as most do. but it isn't about which type of mom has it easier. we get to raise our children the way we see fit and that's what is important for me as a sahm. Yeah we get a break here an there when they nap but what most don't get is we don't honestly get to take a break then. we have to fold laundry, put it away, so on and so on. my husband works full time and has just started school. we are struggling financially but he makes it possible for me to stay home with our son so we don't not necessarily have "money". there should be no divide in mothering but unfortunately there is. there is so much more I could say but I will save it for another time.

That if you are a SAHM you must have money... My husband doesn't make a lot of money and honestly if I were working I could easily make twice what he makes, BUT, we believe it is a sacrifice worth making for our children. By some people's standards we would be considered poor, but we live simple and make it work. Our children and home are well cared for and loved and we wouldn't have it any other way. The truth is, you can make it work on very little money if it's important to you and I thank God that I have been given the opportunity to raise and care for my own children, it would break my heart to leave them everyday.

This is so ridiculous...honestly articles like these continue to feed the divide of the SAHM vs. the working mom. Here you have SAHM saying, yes its a full time job more then full time because it doesn't end at 5pm. Um sorry newsflash people but no moms job ends at 5pm. SAHM saying they get up with the baby at night and handle finances. So do working moms. Being a mom is hard work no matter what. It doesnt matter if you stay at home or go to an office, or work from home. This article seems like it has SAHMs defending themselves...and for what, anyone that thinks a SAHM does nothing is fooling themselves and anyone who says that going to work is the easy way out is also full of crap, trust me its not the same responsibilities are waiting for you when you get home.

Yeah a huge myth I'd like to bust is that we do nothing all day. I just had my first baby in May and taking care of him all day is not nothing. Although I will say I found the newborn stage incredibly easy but now they he's getting to be a bit older he is having to be entertained more and I'm still learning how to be a mama so that takes getting used to. Be we certainly do NOT sit at home and do nothing all day!

Some of us don't sit on our asses all day. Some of do just as much as our So

A SAHM is a mom with so many more roles. The only thing that stands for home is not out of the house working. We're in the house working. Laundry, cooking meals, waking up before our child gets up, washing dishes, cleaning the house, keeping up with our kids, playing doctor, teacher, mentor, chef, no sleep sometimes. Its more than just sitting around doing nothing. You're the Queen of the house so you're more than being a mom who stays home.

We don't sit around watch soap operas and eat bon bons we cook we clean we play with babies and children with no adult conversation our jobs don't end at 5pm it's 24-7 we sleep with one eye and ear open all night long and get up and take care of kids ... Also the label that our children will suffer with social skills because they aren't in day care etc .. False ... We do story time at the library we join mom groups and have weekly play dates with other children our children don't sit and home and play solo we have activities around town for them to do weekly ...

I want the myth that a SAHM is "lucky" to stay home with their kids to be busted. Now don't get me wrong, being a stay at home mama is a blessing, but we don't all do it because we're "lucky" and can afford it. Some of us do it because we don't have a support system of friends or family and we can't afford to use an entire paycheck on daycare and don't want to anyways....also if I were to go to work I would have had to pump and my supply would have tanked because my line of work doesn't allow breaks whenever I need them, so I would have to worry about buying formula...not to mention the fact that my girl never once accepted a bottle, so there's a whole new struggle...I hear a lot of "you should feel lucky to stay at home and play with your kid all day", but until you actually are a SAHM and try and emerse yourself in it as much as many of us do, you don't really know the struggle. I never get a break, from the time my daughter was born my life has shifted, my life is now all about her needs 24/7. These needs don't stop when I close my eyes to sleep, these needs don't stop when I haven't eaten all day and I am shaking from hunger, these needs don't stop when I haven't had a shower in 3 days because I can't leave her alone long enough to do it...there are no State mandated breaks like at work, I don't get to socialize with adult coworkers, I don't get to take a break from the whining and clinginess...I don't get to just be MYSELF. It's hard work, and easy to lose everything about yourself because you work SO HARD to feel important, to feel like you are pulling your weight because society tells us that being a SAHM is a "blessing" and is lazy and is not fair to the partner etc. etc...It is hard. My day consists of being a slave to the needs of another for every second of the day, and although it isn't like that for all of us (those who are lucky enough to have family and friends who babysit), it is for me and others, because we don't have the option to escape for a day or even a few hours...it's definitely not "easy", and not for the faint of heart. We all have our struggles, I would never say that I work harder than a working mom or single mom or anything, but I do think that I work a lot harder than I am given credit for, and it is a different kind of work because as I said there are no breaks or adult contact throughout the day, so it is not only physically demanding (chasing a nearly 1 year old, come on we can all agree to that lol), but it is also VERY emotionally demanding. More so than any job I have ever had, and I worked as a shift lead in fast food and the stress in that kind of work is unreal. Every day as a SAHM is tedious, I have to try and keep a schedule, I have to cook and clean and play and clean and cook and clean.....it's just a huge cycle of the same crap every day, and even if I try and mix it up and go for walks in different directions or play different games or make different meals or whatever, it's all the same when it comes down to it. Basically what I am saying in this super long explanation, is that SAHM's deserve more respect for their jobs because it takes a special kind of strength to be able to handle the stress of it all. And with that said, I might also add that despite wanting to rip my hair out and run away forever some days, I wouldn't change it for anything because this is what is best for OUR situation, and what is best for OUR little girl...and I love her more than anything, I hope as she gets older that this amazing bond we have will last a lifetime and when I finally do get to go back to work she will be proud of me and grateful to have spent this time with me...😍😍😍😍

A SAHM has a full time job. More than full time. From eyes open to eyes closed. No breaks. No call ins. No sick days. A rare "vacation." If it weren't for me, my home would be a disaster, along with everyone in it. I take care of EVERYTHING and EVERYONE. Mothers are the glue of a household. In my house daddy goes out and busts his ass to provide financially and momma stays home to make sure everybody is happy, healthy, fed, clean, and comfortable. A SAHM is just as important as anyone else.

SAHM play an important role in the family. Just because you're not the bread winner doesn't mean you stay at home and do nothing. Usually you're the one that wakes up at night to take care of the baby. You keep things clean and cook for your family all while having to give attention to your children. It's a tough and rewarding job ☺️

@preggie_usa, A SAHM (Stay At Home Mom) is equal or tougher than an actual job it's not staying home on your ass doing little things or nothing, it's making sure your family stays in one piece an making sure your baby/children/Husband have a safe an comfortable home to be in . its making sure you do what you have to do as a MOM.Yes you have a Man there to help an do the hard building/fixing jobs but We all need those stay at home moms ..Always ☺😊☺
