What would you do with $25,000
If you received an extra $25,000. What would you do with it? ?
Wow, so I don't check for a few days and there's a ton of responses. I was in an auto accident in 2014, filed a lawsuit because the lady said it was our fault. She effing rear ended us at a stop light, I ended up having back surgery because of it and we had to rebuild the engine on the VW. It was a vintage car. So upset about the car. But any way.... the settlement is about that. Figure I'll pay off debt and the rest of the year on the mortgage. Save a little and buy a few things for the house. The SO and I have had in different ways of spending the money.
Would your SO agree with what you replied to on this thread?
Pay off my dept, probably give a little to my parents, my sister, my BIL and my MIL because they've been so good to us (part of why our debt isn't very high as they've all let us stay with them a few years ago when we had about a year of hard times). We would also cushion up our daughters college savings. The rest would either go towards the mortgage or we would save it
My mother won at a casino $31,000 two years ago and $27,000 I think 4 months ago .. It didn't last her long the first time she can't even remember what she spent it on but this time she got a steal on a Harley Davidson edition f-150 and she paid off the little bit she owed on her home , bought a trailer because she loves camping and then I think she squandered the rest .. Now if it were me I would put it towards my bills and not my home as my mortgage interest rate is low compared to my 10-19% interest rates on my loans and credit card .. So $25000 would only cover maybe two of my loans which isn't even half of my debt ?
This makes me feel better that I'm not the only one with debt and student loans and money stress!!! Sometimes I feel like I'm alone because people don't talk much about money because it's all about keeping up with the Jones' on social media these days! I would pay my car off and with what's left pay ahead on my rent and then save the money I make from work on the necessities and paying down my debt.
Pay off our debt so that we can start saving for a down payment on a home (which still take forever in southern California).
Right now it's looking like 3 years to pay the debt and another 7-10 for a down payment. It's too long! And prices are just getting higher and higher so who knows...
One of my employees just came into a compensation check for $40k. She's a young girl, 19. Initially she said she was going to get a car and go back to school. Everyday I go into work and she tells me all the frivolous things she's bought for her, her bf (no job, lives two hrs away, sees him every 4 months, oh and he's 27) and her dad (went to prison now lives with his mother). She bought a $500 tambourine because she thought it was pretty and spends hundreds of dollars on makeup everyday. So far I think she's spent $5k on junk. I cringe to think that this money could seriously make her future so much easier and she's just throwing it away.
I would pay off a little debt and then use the rest as a down payment.
I wouldnt buy new couches for the simple fact my kids are young and would probably destroy it to quick.
But I could buy a bigger dining room table (ours currently seats 4 and there's 6 in our family)
I would go on a shopping spree at winners with my step daughters and let them spend some for their rooms.
I would put a bunch to groceries and stocking up (maybe even a deep freeze for the basement and stock up on meats)
Clothes for me and hubbs. (kids already have tons of clothes)
Maybe some new outside toys for our kids.
I would try to have fun with it.
Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no,
his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me...

Transgender children
So I just learned that in my kids school district (my kids aren't in school yet my oldest will be starting kindergarten next September) there are twin boys who identify as girls. They are 5 years old. What's your opinions on this matter given they are 5!!! I don't believe that at that age they really understand the whole thing. So the entire school had to take a course on how to handle transgender children. For example they can't say girls go this or boys do that. What are...
