Ladies Please Pray For My Son && Me , iM Literally About To Shut This NICU Down. Since My Son Was Born On The 10th @ 7:39PM They Started Feeding Him The Next Morning (Formula) Usually They Wait 24Hours && They Had Him Basically Taking 2 ounces (32Weeker Measuring 34Weeks At Birth) Because Of This He Had A Spitting Up Problem (His Tummy is Only So Little) So They Wanted To Try My Milk (He Went To BreastMilk) Since The Switch He Hasnt Had Any Spit Ups But His Tummy Will Become Very Bloated Causing Them To Be Alarmed and Stop His Feedings For 24 hours , An EveryTime This Happens He Ends Up Having Alot Of Gas. I TOLD THEM TO SWITCH BACK TO FORMULA , TO SOMETHING THAT HELPS WITH GAS . Since This Is Happening Very Very Often , But All They Want To Tell Me is Ohh BreastMilk is the best BLAH BLAH BLAH. YES I UNDERSTAND YOU MIGHT BE RIGHT. BUT IF I SEE THAT MY MILK IS THE CAUSE OF HIM BEING SO CONSTIPATED AND GASSY WHY NOT FUCKING CHANGE HIS MILK. This is The Only Thing Holding Us Back From Going Home. I'm About Ready To Ask Them To Send Us SomeWhere Else Because Clearly What You Guys Are Doing Here iSnt Helping With His Constipation.
@crunchymomma, they have one here in the NICU , I don't understand how these people operate. I guess they are trying to make sure he doesn't get a infection in his stomach. which on the xrays they have done it showed everything in the correct place only thing it showed was he had alot of air && gas causing the bloating in his stomach. which happens alot then the stop the feedings , put him back on iv fluids and once he poops it's stomach is back normal. they also have a tube down his nose to his stomach they check before they feed him to see if he's digested his milk && he has every feeding. they are also feeding every 3 hrs he eats at 8,11,2,5
call a lactation consultant up to speak to the doctor. breastfed babies ALWAYS go 3-5 days without pooping. also, the babies belly isn't big enough for 2oz right now. he's not constipated, he just doesn't have poop to evacuate from his body. a breastfed baby usually uses ALL the nutrients in breastmilk, since it's only made of things the baby needs. if there's no waste from what you eat, there's no waste to evacuate from you body. your hospitals lactation consultant can explain this to the doctor and possibly convince him to discharge your baby.
@crunchymomma, yes since he was 5 days old hes been on the breast milk && having this same problem since
@crunchymomma, he went 3 days without pooping when they stopped his feedings one time. && yes this is the only reason we are here && it sucks because they don't seem to want to find out the cause of him doing this && yes damn near 2 oz and they went up so fast he wasn't even 3 days old yet smh
also, by "Constipated" what do you mean? how long is he going without pooping?
ask them to switch him to smaller, more frequent feedings.you're the mom, you should have a day. and talk to the lactation consultant, ask for her help.
