I agree with all these mom's! My son's doctor said that even though they can get the motions of potty training down when they're 2- the actual connections in their brain of understanding what they're doing isn't fully developed until 2 to 2 and 1/2, and with disabilities, that's a whole other ball game! Mowgli's got delays and he's only used the potty a few times and that's mostly when he's had severe diaper rashes and we catch him right as or right before he has to go. He's 2 1/2 and enjoys flushing the potty when we go but we're not putting that extra stress on him or us by making it mandatory before he's really ready. Just breath momma and let your baby be a baby as long as she needs! If others keep bothering you just sweep their opinions under the rug, and tell them to buzz off - you and your baby and their doctor's know best anyway!

Tell those people to mind their business unless they are buying you diapers. Children are hard to potty train when they aren’t ready, one with disabilities I can only imagine is 10x harder to impossible depending on the severity of their disability. Hold off on the potty training if your doctor said no then they said no and don’t over stress yourself with other people unwanted opinions on how you should raise yours.

It's VERY possible she's not ready Mama. I mean, she's not even 3. My kid has no delays and I found it wasn't until we hit 3.5 that we seemed to find that magic age that something just clicked and he suddenly WANTED to use the potty. It didn't take long at all either. Well peeing didn't, we were good with that, night and day, right off the bat. A few months before he was 4, pooping finally clicked and we were good to go! Give yourself, and her, a little break and come back to it later. The more you push, the more she'll push back and the longer it's gonna take. You'll both be in tears!

I have a boy so it's possible it's different but, to me, it sounds like she's not quite ready.

Wow that’s very young! My daughter did not have any delays but we waited til 2.5 to start potty training her. She had a long journey and didn’t finally reach the end til she was almost 4. It’s a process. If I were you I’d stop training and wait til she shows signs of readiness.

My kiddo is autistic and nonverbal... I get slack ALL the time girl. I had to cut off so many friendships/people bc of overstepping and stressing me out. I feel you girl but YOU know best. If you have to set some ppl straight about it.. Do it for your piece of mind ❤❤

2 is way to young for any child in my opinion. I have a lot of kids and the earliest I have been able to train is like 3-4 years old. My parents did the same to me but I told them kiss 😘 my ass it’s my kid.

They still might be helpful. Most parents remember when they potty trained their kids.

Most people saying that probably don't have children of their own or let alone a child with a disability.

Listen to your doctor and therapists. Maybe find like a support group to talk to parents whose children have the same disabilities. Ask their opinion 🤔.

Girl don't listen.

Kids learn at their own pace

My oldest. Potty trained completely by 2.5 (not counting bed wetting)

I've been working with my youngest since she was 1.5

She'll pee perfectly fine all day but is struggling with poop and she's almost 4.

My daughter is almost 4 has no delays and she's still having issues (mainly with pooping)

If she gets distracted she'll hold her pee too long and sometimes won't even make it to the bathroom.

So it's completely normal for a 2 year old not to be ready. Especially if she has delays. Be patient mom. She'll get there eventually

#mombassadorchat Moms, Done with diapering? Today we're chatting all things potty training with @smilingwithmyawesome4kids, who is a mombassador and admin of the very popular potty training group in the app. Share your potty training stories, ask questions and share tips on this post. @smilingwithmyawesome4kids will also answer any questions! Here's her bio and general tips: Hello I am Ceiamaria I am a stay at home Mother to 4 children ages 12,8,7 and 11 months old. I am happily married for 12 years and we are still going strong. I am determined and driven for success FAILURE isn't an option for me. I potty trained my oldest at 9 months old. My 2 middle son's were more difficult they were between 18 months and 2 years old. My baby boy was showing interest in potty training, I decided to buy him a potty chair. Potty training tips 1.) Don't rush your child 2.)Don't yell at your child 3.) Don't punish your child for having accidents 4.) Don't give you child candy 5.) Don't compare other children to your child 6.) Do praise your child 7.) Clap your hands when your child goes to the potty. 8.)Take your child every 15-30 minutes to the potty 9.)Don't criticize your child 10.) I don't recommend pull ups but I don't bash mothers who decided to use them. 11.) Remember potty training is not taught in one day you have to be determined to potty train your child.
