Honest question ladies! So I had my breastfeeding class and they told me that formula fed babies are more likely to big bigger and obese than breastfeed babies... However all the breastfeed babies I know are huge babies! And my one niece who was formula fed only is so tiny!!
My other niece barely turned 6 months and wears 12 months clothes! And is breastfeed only.... What's your options and experiences.
I believe they're talking about later in life
I breastfed my son and he was a little chunky. When I stared formula, he became thinner and now he's just a naturally skinny kid
just from what I've seen from working in the nursery in daycare when the newborns on formula come in they are usually bigger than the newborns who are breastfed... but then it changes and as they get older the bf babies are bigger and chunkier than the ff babies.. I'm pretty sure it's because with formula as a new newborn their little tummies are tiny and sometimes they can over eat formula which expands their bellies, where bf babies eat until their full, usually not more... that's how everything was explained to me because I had the same question lol
my son was formula fed and his weights always been where it should be. when he was a baby ( hes 5) he was chunky but we were never told he was over weight or anything. as long as there healthy no matter how there fed i think its ok :)
Also... All moms don't make the same milk... Some moms make fattier milk than others:)
my little man was rolly Polly from nursing and I'm so great full for it. The reason why they say that is because nursing encourages good bacteria growth within the baby's gut. It also encourages digestive maturity. This is directly linked with less digestive issues and obesity during childhood and adulthood.
My little one is Breastfeed and is a bit underweight for her age right now.
my niece was breastfed and she's a skinny little twig and she's tall. her little brother is kind of a chunk. I think all breast fed babies are chunk but become thinner later on and all the formula babies are skinnier but become chunky later on, I read that on a mom page or magazine or something can't remember where
My daughter was breast feed and a chunky monkey till 2 but shes always been in the 90th percentile for height and weight. She is so tall that the weight matches perfectly. I swear she'll be taller than her Daddy (fingers crossed) I always wanted to be tall and if my daughter gets that privilege than even better. Your teacher does mean when the child gets older when it comes to formula. Breast milk doesn't stick into your child's insides like formula. Thats why breast feed babies eat more cause it basically runs right through them. So its a lot easier for your child to burn off that chunkiness instead of formula that is still very good for baby. It also has fats in it that stick to your organs and thats the hardest fat to get rid of. This is all what my daughters pediatrician told us and thats what really made us want to breast feed.
My baby was breastfed and I was waiting on her to blow up and she NEVER did she weighed 6 pounds 4 oz at birth and at her 12 month check up was only 18 pounds on the other hand she has a cousin who just turned 3 months on the 18th who is formula fed and weigh 20 pounds already
I did both and my baby is just fine. I wouldn't worry bout it to much. @jennaboo
I wanna breastfeed and do formula so I'm thinking my baby gunna be a big chunky monkey lol @elenalee @elenalee @rose.grossnickle @ilovemykids24
my baby is on formula and she isn't chunky. she on the right weight. I think your teacher is saying that to scare you guys. @jennaboo
Both of mine were mostly BF, my first was tiny and my second was a chunky monkey lol...no telling what the third will be
It's my understanding that that refers to later in life, like they are less likely to be obese as adults. Bf babies are chubbier but thin out as toddlers.
My opinion is... it doesn't matter what they eat as long as they are eating. lol. I know kids that have thirod problems that causes them to be a little bigger (nothing wrong with that)
Yesss! That's what I thought too?!!!! Like sometimes to big even! My niece can't even crawl she's soooo big for only 6 months @navywifej
i was about to say the same lol breastfed babies ive seen are super chunky
Starting TWW. Anyone else?
I had a stillborn daughter at 38 weeks this passed Nov. This is my second month ttc. (Last month we only tried for like two weeks though). My last and only pregnancy, I got pregnant the first month of ttc so I hope it's quick this time again.

kyler has been been breastfed for 2 months and has been formula fed for 4.5 months now. she is a chubby and happy baby. how is your baby fed? 😊 #2monthsbreastfed #4monthsformulastrong #happyandhealthybaby
When can I start giving my son regular milk? He turns 10 months in 2 days. I bought unsweetened almond milk yesterday so he can try. Would that be okay? I’m lowkey tired of him on formula but I mean he’s still a baby lol.
Breastfeeding is hard. It's pushed on you as "the right thing to do". I had a hard time with my milk not comeing in and then a drop in my supply. So I formula fed my baby when he was still hungry after breastfeeding. Not everyone has an easy time and it can actually be very painful to some. I got lucky to have a baby who has a perfect latch so I had no pain. Even with a good latch I still got milk blisters. Although I wanted to breastfeed and was all for it I considered stopping so many times. P...
breastfeading is so painful 😢 I think I'm going to formula feed but I want to breastfeed my baby I feel so bad😭😭
@bianca_rose, is right. They mean later on in life.
