No you are not wrong. You need to go to court, get full custody and full child support. You also need to try to get him to talk to a mental health professional- that is a very disturbing revelation and makes me wonder if he might need psychiatric help, especially if this is something you did not expect from him. I’m hoping he needs the right help and changes back into a husband and father your family deserves. Until that point, let mama bear come out! I’m so sorry you are going through this!

I'm not normally a person to say....I want to keep my kids away from their father BUT hes left us 5 times over the past year...when he came back last bc time I trusted the chnage but...hes back at it again. I'm tired of seeing my babies hurt.b

@ivegot10 unfortunately my husband. I was dumb enough to take him back. He left us last August and was in and out 4 times over a 5 month span! Also, got another woman pregnsnt.

He’s already proven that he doesn’t give a damn. Move and FAST! Beat him to the punch and file for divorce as well as getting custody and child support settled.

@kerstie14, I wouldn’t imagine him getting rights or even trying if he is willing to walk out like that. There has to be a support system in your area, someone that can help you with a lawyer, some do pro bono work. BUT if he is actually unwell, I think it is your duty as his spouse to see he gets care, or at least try to get him help. Yes get the kids away, but if he has a mental illness, remember marriage binds you. My father had to divorce my mother, but made sure to get her help. She is so much better and we actually have a relationship- even after being abandoned. I am so thankful to my dad for doing this. I’m not saying this is your case, he might just be an awful human being, but just make sure 💕

With you being married there always is the possibility of him getting some rights. In the courts eyes they're still his children. How much is up to the judge and if he even wants them. From the sounds of it everything you have against him and him walking out makes it seem like he wouldn't get much.

Move in with your parents! Right now what’s most important is keeping you and your baby healthy and your kids safe! He is putting all of you at risk with his careless actions. Move with your parents and take it easy until you have baby. Then you can start trying to get on your feet. Also, in the meantime, PLEASE DOCUMENT EVERYTHING. Keep a journal with dates and times and things your husband is doing (like leaving children home alone) so that when it comes to court negotiations, you will not have any trouble getting full custody and child support!!!!!

Wanted to also add that instead of it being looked at like you’re taking the kids away from him, what’s wrong with you and the kids spending the summer with grandma and grandpa? And them helping you with the kids since your pregnancy is high risk? Nothing wrong with that, right? Doesn’t have to appear as though you kidnapped them and moved, in the courts eyes. You’re just visiting grandparents so they can help during your pregnancy, since your husband is working...

Also, if you move now and do your court stuff there in Ohio, he will have to travel to court dates and probably not fight you as hard about stuff bc of the $$$. Just saying....

Have you sought legal advice on it? I don’t know how things are there, but here in Canada no matter how bad the dad is you can’t just move your kids to another province. Here you’d need an order from a judge first before you can move your kids that distance. Worth looking into and I’m sorry your going through this!! Leaving them alone I’m blown away.

@kerstie14, If your legally married you likely can’t just leave the state without going through the proper channels. He also can’t kick you out. If you were to just leave the state with your kids he could get you in trouble. There is such thing as kidnapping your own kids, and as ridiculous as it sounds you can get in a lot of trouble. You need to make sure you’ve done everything legally before simply removing your kids from the state.

Even if he won’t pay the rent or water or electricity, you have until the end of the month.

There is laws against parental kidnapping in the state of Kentucky, and a judge will have to give you permission. That being said you will definitely need a lawyer to help you with a child relocation hearing.

@kerstie14, Well you can leave him, but you can’t just remove your children from the state and take them to Ohio. There’s child relocation laws in your state that prevent you from doing that without the proper legal proceedings. A judge has to permit you to do so. People can lose custody of their kids and also face jail time for parental interference or “parental kidnapping”. He could just to spite you report it and that would be horrible. It’s like me I couldn’t remove my child from the province I live in till our divorce judge granted me primary custody of the son we shared at that time. I then had permission to remove him from our province to visit family. You also want to make sure you have your child support etc taken care of before leaving the state. He should be the one to leave the home you share, and then you can take him to court and move after the proceedings. You’d be entitled to child support and alimony. It’s a crappy situation and he’s a coward and utter douche bag for doing this to you.

@kerstie14 do you have any of this in text? Him wanting you gone? Him leaving kids? Because you can leave and not be in trouble . Your first priority is the saftey of the the children. Also I think you need to speak to someone about your legal options

@kerstie14, Well then you need to file court papers. Is there not social assistance in your state? He would be required to pay you, so a judge wouldn’t take that you can’t work or pay bills as a reason to leave state without going through the court proceedings.

I would move in with your parents if that’s your only option. They’ll understand and help because you have a high risk pregnancy. Unless you have a relationship with them like I do mine 😅 then find someone or people to help you pack (because you probably shouldn’t strain yourself you are probably stressed enough) I would also go ahead and send the kids to your parents. That way they are out of that situation and start getting used to living with your parents a little before you get there. And I would forget that mother fucker. Just get it all over with ASAP and you’ll be happier for it. It’ll be rough for a bit before you find your new schedule but change is always a good thing! @kerstie14, in regards to you asking if you’ll have the upper hand I know at least in Missouri they never give a man a fair shot really with custody battles. Women usually are favored and picked as the main provider or given full custody. That might be just here though
