Need to vent!!

DH's work recently required that he work 60 hour work weeks! That's 12 hours per day! I work full time too and now I literally do EVERYTHING else all by myself! DH is here to help get my son on the bus in the morning but then isn't home until 11pm or later every night!! I feel like a single parent. My son cried at dinner because he hasn't seen daddy in days.

I'm sorry hun. I know how stressed you must be. As far as the OT if your husband is hourly he should be getting time & a half for anything over 40hrs. It sounds like they're trying to get over on him. He should definitely check into that! Good luck!

This is from the US Dept of Labor. I'll post the link but I copied the OT portion for you.

*this is what I copied*

The federal overtime provisions are contained in the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Unless exempt, employees covered by the Act must receive overtime pay for hours worked over 40 in a workweek at a rate not less than time and one-half their regular rates of pay. There is no limit in the Act on the number of hours employees aged 16 and older may work in any workweek. The Act does not require overtime pay for work on Saturdays, Sundays, holidays, or regular days of rest, unless overtime is worked on such days.

The Act applies on a workweek basis. An employee's workweek is a fixed and regularly recurring period of 168 hours — seven consecutive 24-hour periods. It need not coincide with the calendar week, but may begin on any day and at any hour of the day. Different workweeks may be established for different employees or groups of employees. Averaging of hours over two or more weeks is not permitted. Normally, overtime pay earned in a particular workweek must be paid on the regular pay day for the pay period in which the wages were earned.

I feel for you, my SO works 16 hours a day 5 days a week and occasionally has to work 12 on sat :( I also work about 50+ hours a week and take care of our house. Needless to say my house is a disaster right now lol. I don't have great advice just sympathy for you!

I swear, we talk more when he is deployed than when he works these shifts. Sad but true

I might get s*** from this from other military wives...

But I would rather have my husband deployed than working 12 hour shifts.

He has been on 12 hour shifts this week and I basically feel like a maid. He is so tired he just leaves his s*** everywhere, comes home, eats and goes to bed.

Thanks! :-)

It could be legal if he signed a paper stating that the hours would be such and such and they wouldn't have to pay him over time.

Stay strong momma

When he's home, he's helpful! He helps me clean, make food, and he is such a great daddy! But you can't do any of that when you aren't home! I know he doesn't want to be there for 12 hours so I try not to give him a hard time but it's really hard to keep it to myself and not tell him how I feel.

Haha! Jerktard might be my new favorite word!

Its like selective sleeping with him too. He can stay awake if hes watching 4-5 hours of nascar. Amazing huh? I love him dearly but the man can be such a jerktard sometimes lol. Thats men i guess :0)

I hear ya. My husband works 11 hours a day. I get irritated when he gets home at 3 and showers, then lays on the couch and is asleep by 3:30 and sleeps all night. I understand hes tired but the kids need some daddy attention. Atleast spend some time with them before snoring like a dang freight train.

I'm glad I'm not alone and really happy that we can all chat on here when we're lonely at home without our SO's! :-)

I sometimes think it wouldn't be so bad if I didn't work because it's so hard to balance everything. Once work is over it's: get DS off the bus, afternoon snack, homework, clean up, cook dinner, fight with him and DD to eat, then a little relaxing "family minus one" time, bath time, bed time and do it all gain the next day! It's stressful and monotonouse.

I know, I'm preaching to the choir here!! DH just doesn't understand! :-(

We are in VA. I was looking at some of the federal laws earlier and nothing I saw stated they "shouldn't" pay him time and a half. Before I was switched to salary at my current job, I was hourly but I did not get time and a half either. My boss told me that because I made over a certain amount of money, I didn't qualify for time and a half, but I never found out if that was true or not.

If he's hourly, I thought it was federal law to pay him time and a half for every hour over 40.

I know it is legal to require salaried employees to work 40+ hours, but I don't know the rules around not paying time and a half and requiring overtime.

I don't know. I was trying to look it up earlier to see how legal it is but I wasn't finding much. He isn't salary so I am glad he is getting paid for all of this extra time, but they don't pay him time and a half, just his regular hourly rate.

This chick that works with my boyfriend really confessed her love to my man and then went into tears when he rejected her. (Mind you, he works in a kitchen and tells everyone about me and the fact that I’m pregnant and how excited he is to have a son.) Apparently she’s started to cause him problems at work and getting jealous when he talks other females, me included😂 Like this hoe really tried it😩😂🤪

When can I start giving my son regular milk? He turns 10 months in 2 days. I bought unsweetened almond milk yesterday so he can try. Would that be okay? I’m lowkey tired of him on formula but I mean he’s still a baby lol.

amysbabies 12 months. Focus on purees, you can steam veggies and mash them yourself. Or mash up some
makethatfour I also was told to start peanut butter at 6 months for exact what @tacos4lyfe stated.
jazzyjazz I gave my kids a little peanut butter at around 8 months...and transitioned them to cows milk
