Formula at night for breastfed baby?
My baby is ebf but I am getting soooo exhausted with night feedings. My LO will wake up constantly during the night & I end up feeding 3-4 times during the night. I am thinking about giving him a bottle of formula before bed. Does anyone else do this? I am wondering how much formula & do I still offer him the breast in addition to the formula?
Do you pump at all? I EBF, but we give him pumped milk for his last feeding before bed, so we are sure he is getting enough to sleep through the night. I feel like breastfeeding at night, when he was sleepy, was too comfy, and he was falling asleep too soon. So we don't hold him (usually have him on a changing table or our bed), and feed him a bottle...minimum 4oz, but he's taken as much as 7. We also cluster feed the last three feedings...we were doing every 2 hrs, now are doing every 90 min. He was sleeping 7-9 hours, then hit his sleep regression...after getting through that he is sleeping 11-12 hours.
Good luck!!
Im sorry to hear he is up 3/4 times at night. That would be exhausting for me too. I do opposite with my lo feeding. I give formula during a day but breast before bed time (8-9pm) and early in a morning (6-7am) she doesn't wake up during a night. Definitely try to give him formula and see if it works better (5-6 oz should be enough) My friends son is 16 months old and still up couple times at night. Every baby is different. Hope bottle of formula before bed time will work for your lo. Good luck!!
My son gets formula and breast. Depending on how much he got brestfeeding I'll finish with a bottle. My son still wakes up at 1 , 4 and 6 and sleeps until 8 or 9 even 10. Then is up for the night. I tired giving him his binkie but he actually hungry. It may help for you but it didn't help for my son
Trigger. Lost baby
Went in for my 20 week check up and found out our son had passed away. Nothing was wrong, my pregnancy has been going great. I'm so numb right now. I'll he delivering him later this week. I don't want to do this. I don't want to do this. Not before Christmas. How am I'm going to tell my kids?? My dear sweet baby boy. Why did this happen?
Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no,
his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me...
Breastfeeding.
I am a HUGE breastfeeding advocate. No, I will NOT shame you if you decide to formula feed, and will not tolerate anyone else doing so on my post. Everyone has their own reasons on why they feed their child the way they see fit.
Formula at night for efb baby?
I have ebf my baby since he was born (over 4 months ago) but I am getting exhausted with waking up every 2 hours to feed during the night! Do any efb babies here drink formula before bed? I assume that would get me some much needed sleep?! How much formula should I give a 4 month old before bed?

This may be more of a sleep/comfort issue instead of a hunger issue. Your baby may be using nursing to help soothe and fall back to sleep when he briefly wakes up. If so, then a bedtime bottle probably won't help anything. I nursed my third baby to sleep all the time (I knew better, but I liked it) and he woke up all throughout the night to eat because he had no ability to put himself back to sleep-not because he was hungry. When I fixed the sleep issue, I fixed the constant eating issue. Just a thought??
