One of the reasons why formula gives them a longer stretch between feedings is because their bodies can't process it as fast as breastmilk but once they adjust most babies can go back to eating every 2-3 hours with formula. I learned how to nurse while laying down and I co-sleep with my lo. It's what works best for us at night. Hope you find something that works for you! Good luck!

I would really suggest pumping for that feed anyway even though you don't get much now you will eventually make more.

I did this and it didn't make a difference. Although we did see a difference just giving a bottle in general. Weather it's BM or formula. This is my SO bonding time with the baby. He gives him his "nighttime bottle" and I just make sure I pump once LO is in bed :-). She would sleep an average of 5 hours! Now he's sleeping 7-8 and then going down for another 2-3. It's great! So I suggest a bottle at night

I gave my son 4 oz of formula last night & he slept sooooo much better! He still woke up for 2 feedings during the night (which he breastfed during), but at least he slept good between feedings! I think his problem was before bed he was so sleepy that he would only nurse for 5-10 min & wasnt getting full. The formula he can drink faster so he gets fuller before going to sleep. I would pump instead of formula but I hate pumping, I get such a small amount of milk that I would have to pump multiple times a day just to get those 4 oz!

Idk how you feel about having baby in bed with you, but learning to nurse laying down made a big difference for me. I just have to move baby to the other side of me each time he wakes. Then we both fall back asleep. He spends the first half of the night in his bassinet and the second half in bed with me. But if you aren't comfortable with your lo in your bed then never mind. Hope you figure something out though. And SOON.

No no no!!! No rice! Rice is not meant to be fed in bottles! Not at all! If you think formula is gonna upset the tummy rice will be wayyy worse.

Formula will hurt your supply and wont help with sleep. You can try cluster feeding before bed or a dream feed. Ds didn't sleep through until he was 9 months old and we did a bit of sleep training.

My lo is ebf and he sleeps about 4-5hrs at night and has doing so since around 7-8wks of age. I was told not to let him sleep longer then that when he was a newborn. He is 13wks now and still sleeps good through the night. I think every baby is different when it comes to sleeping schedule. my dd woke up literally every 2- 2 1/2 when she was around that age and she was formula fed.

Try pumping a bottle of milk instead! That's what I did around that age. I can't remember anymore if it did help him sleep longer, but it was a better option than formula. EBF usually don't take we'll to formula and it can really upset their tummies.

I would give a bottled bm before bed, then go and pump. I eventually taught my body to make more and more by pumping longer and longer. I went from barely making up for that 5-6 oz bottle to making 18 oz per sitting! I was able to amass a huge stash and donate to 5 other babies. Plus then easy could do the bedtime feeding too

I asked this question last week on three forums and the response was overwhelmingly "it won't make a difference and you risk decreasing your supply"

I have found that my lo sleeps better if she gets a decent quantity of milk right before bed but it doesn't need to be formula, it can be breast milk. She is often very tired by the time she finally passes out so she falls asleep during her feeding right before bed so she can get more quickly from a bottle and be more full.

I tried it with my 3 month old a couple weeks ago, but it didn't make any difference for her- she was still up at night- so we stopped because I didn't see any point.
