Okay so how do you handle situations when you know your kid lsn’t hungry but they insist that they are? My 2yo goes to this preschool program for two hours and she goes at 2pm. By this time she has already had breakfast, lunch and a snack. This program doesn’t do snacks or anything of that sort because it’s only for two hours they give water or juice. My daughter has been going for a month now and she has been telling them that she is hungry so I have to pack her a snack to eat and they make her eat it in a separate room from the other kids. They said she takes 20-30 minutes to eat it and it cuts in with her learning. They look and talk to me like I’m not feeding her and they are telling me to feed her the snack before she comes so she has time to learn and I do 🙄I literally ask her “Amina do you want more” she either says no or sometimes she doesn’t finish her food and says she’s full.
She eats a big filling breakfast every morning. cereal, toast, turkey sausage and fruit or sometimes oatmeal instead of cereal. For lunch I’ll do a sandwich, chips, veggie sticks and pudding. For a snack I do pepperoni, cheese and crackers, smoothie and sliced apples. This is her typical meal-plan and than dinner is usually a pretty filling meal so I know she’s eating enough I just don’t understand if she’s lying or if she’s really getting hungry but I feel like she already eats way too much for a 2 almost 3 year old considering most days she doesn’t even finish her food so I know I give her too much sometimes. After she leaves her program she comes home and dinner is typically at 6:30 or 7. In between that time she doesn’t ask for food or says that she’s hungry. My husband thinks she’s doing it on purpose but if she’s genuinely hungry I wanna figure out what foods I should be feeding her so that she’s not hungry 30 minutes after getting there.

My daughter started the im always starving thing when she was 2 and a half. I kept a food diary of what i was giving her, i made her eat before she was allowed to drink and that helped. Bow she is only starving when she wants junk food

A food diary is such a good idea!

Honestly I believe her. If she’s actually eating the food I wouldn’t care if it’s cutting into her learning time. If she is truly hungry she won’t even be able to concentrate on her learning. Maybe you can give her a light snack on the way to school but I would continue to let her eat in the separate room as long as she is truly eating. Sorry I’m not sure what kind of foods exactly you could be giving her. But perhaps somebody else could shed more light on nutrition facts in food.

What time do you usually serve lunch? I would try to get her more protein at lunch since it’s very filling and will leave her feeling full for longer. Maybe swap the chips for a cheese stick and the pudding for a little bit of Greek yogurt. What time do you usually serve snack? She may be hungry when she says she is. You could also try the cheese stick on the way to preschool.

Lunch is typically at 11 and we do the snack around 12:45-1pm we do breakfast at 8am more protein makes sense

it might help to push lunch back to noon. She could have a snack in between breakfast and lunch to hold her over until 12:00. I think 11:00 is kind of early for lunch. Having a full meal at 12:00 and then a snack right before preschool might help.

She is probably thirsty, or needs attention of some kind.
