Something a family member and I were talking about one day, when a child is in a booster seat with a seat belt, do you lock the seat belt or no? Lock it as in pull it all the way out and then tighten it to where you need it? Or do you just buckle it without locking? I've never seen anyone talk about this so I honestly have no idea and neither did she. None of my kids are in boosters yet.

@leahkay not a dumb question. I only know this because I saw someone else ask a CPST and read it becuase I was curious.. no, you do not lock the belt. You want it to function just as your seatbelts would.

And it's not even just about rearfacing or clips being in the right place anymore. I am CONSTANTLY commenting on FB posts of moms asking what they can put on their seats to keep them from getting dirty or asking about car seat mirrors. The only thing on the seat should be the properly installed seat that meets the needs of your child and your child safely fastened into it. Why is that such a novelty?

I still have my almost three year old in a five point harness car seat. I knkw hubby is like soon we can have her in a booster seat. Im like no!! I dont feel comfy with it and she isnt within requirements at all

It’s surprising how many of my daughter’s friends aren’t in booster seats anymore. They are 7 years old. I always keep an extra booster in the car in case we bring a friend home from school. They complain about using one in my car because they don’t have to in their cars. I don’t get it.
