Well it’s official now. I put in for my maternity leave today. My maternity leave starts after work tomorrow!!! I am going to be looking for better work in the mean time and getting the house ready for the arrival of baby boy!!! Nervous but ready!
Just curious, do you get a really long mat leave? Seems early to be starting. I am due 11/1 and going to “plan” on working until Friday 11/2. I get 6 weeks, 60% pay for vaginal delivery, 8 for a c-section and the remainder up to 12 weeks will be unpaid. I hopefully will not have any or not too long without baby bc I want to be able to spend every second I can with her
@nicole5984, I get 12 weeks from maternity leave. I get 70% of my paycheck after I have the baby. I had to buy up for the extra 10% on that though. So portion of my check gets deducted for that specifically. I had the flu in March, and then I had a cold with laryngitis about a month and a half ago. Which took away from my maternity leave because it falls under FMLA. So with that I lost two weeks of my FMLA/maternity leave. So I talk to my work because I am on my feet up-and-down all day long. I talked to them and ask them if there was a way that they could hold my position for me a little longer since I had the flu and the cold. And they said yes and it would fall under something else. But that they were willing to hold my position a little longer rather than go and train somebody else.
