Any advice how many weeks or months I should ask for maternity leave from my boss at work before my due date? I'm due in august idk if its too early to ask for maternity leave

@kayecobarrubia you should. I stopped last week, im im my second week of paid vacation and i have 4 extra days next week so I go into work next Friday as a last day then I'm on maternity leave, lol.

@kayecobarrubia i believe so, it's under the FMLA. I'm in a union so I'm gonna see what they recommend. I honestly don't want the job back but I don't want to be on unemployment either
Unfortunately employer don't understand that we need to make money as much as we can for our baby.
@mommyhawkins that's crazy! My boss said if I can't come back in 6 weeks they'll need to hire someone else. The worst part is I was cut to part time months ago so I only work 20 hours a week. It really should be against the law, I thought that's what FMLA was for.
@harleigh1223, but isn't there's a law that they can't fire you. You can complain on that right? And get unemployment benefits
Okay guys so I just talked to my boss and he said he's gonna think about my request and let me know. What is that supposed to mean? I request a 2 week paid vacation and if I can work from home cause my job can work from home. Hope they will work out with me
@kayecobarrubia we get 6 weeks at my job so I'm gonna take it cause I get paid and if my short term disability goes through in time I might take extra time so I can find a new job cause my job is replacing me while I'm on leave

@kayecobarrubia oh I wish to be able to leave for a year.. I'll be gone 3 months and the thought is killing me to leave my baby so soon... and he's not even here yet so I can only imagine what it's going to be like OMG....
Unfortunately my husband and I both have to work for the time being. And have to make sacrifices for the sake of our baby.

Start the process early. Just to get everything covered.
I requested early maternity leave about a 2 wks before my due date. And got denied.
I'll be going on maternity leave 2 days prior to my due date!!

@kayecobarrubia sounds good then, work as much as you can but don't overdo it since you're already at 30 weeks. Take the vacation, you'll be able to do things you need to and more importantly get much needed rest.

End of July, it depends on how many weeks you get for maternity leave too. I'm on vacation right now cause I have to use all my days before I can go on leave, I'm going on maternity leave the last week of this month cause I'm due the first week of July.

So I just learned that in my kids school district (my kids aren't in school yet my oldest will be starting kindergarten next September) there are twin boys who identify as girls. They are 5 years old. What's your opinions on this matter given they are 5!!! I don't believe that at that age they really understand the whole thing. So the entire school had to take a course on how to handle transgender children. For example they can't say girls go this or boys do that. What are...

My friend posted this on facebook last night and said her kids were asleep within minutes. It's a song that scientists created to help people fall asleep. I was skeptical but I thought what the hay, I'll try it out. I didn't bank on Dh falling asleep, but both him and lo were asleep by minute 2. And lo slept six straight hours. ?
@kayecobarrubia I've been struggling at work, lol. I'm a kitchen aide but the head cook has no respect for me and had me doing lifting and reaching for heavy boxes that could've fell on me. I complained and nothing happened, smh. We're troopers lol, I was gonna go earlier but I need the money
