So my niece had a baby boy yd 10am. From the minute we heard our excitement was palpable. But as we made plans to go see her the news slowly unfolds of her traumatic birth and baby's complications. Baby came out with cord and membranes wrapped around him, in the process of untangling him mummy's placenta burst, she then ended up in theatre to get her placenta out and was gone for a few hours. During that time we find out baby's been born without a back passage, he will need surgery. Babies born without back passages often have other issues and thus began a grueling 12 hours of checks for my poor angel. It was found that he is missing a connection from his oesophagus to his stomach, thus even if he could pass stool, he wouldn't be able to feed. So by 7pm it was certain he would need 2 major surgeries. The extent to which wouldn't be set till he had MRI's done and he was finally moved to GOSH at 3am this morning. Mum still left in L&D here. I'm crying as I type this because if I feel like I can barely handle this whirlwind of a few days, I physically cannot fathom how strong my niece and nephew are, she's 23 like me, from America, moved over here after marriage at 21. Strongest woman I know. Her baby is absolutely beautiful, nurses stopping to say omg isn't he gorgeous. And also it stuns me how lucky I am to have 2 healthy children. There could have been a 100 things that went wrong and didn't. By the grace of God. My kids have 5 fingers toes limbs working insides, healthy and I'm to quick to forget how lucky I am.

@kayteamay thank you that's so great to hear. I'm so happy he went GOSH out of all the options but also the parking is so bad it's going to be a mission for us all.

@noshinxoxo, we used to get the bus there when I was little. He’s in the best place. Update us on how he gets on x

@kayteamay will do. We're from Luton so I think my husband will be driving the grandparents there and just making it easier so they don't have to deal with car issues. I just wish there was more I could do for my niece whose literally in a bed miles away from her child. Heartbroken.
