im so upset with my doctor. i went to the ER the other day for contractions they ended up sending me home because my contractions werent painful enough when the doctor came in she told me if im not making any progress by my due date (which is sunday) im going to need to be induced especially if im trying to have a vaginal birth, i told her that my doctor scheduled me for a c section on Tuesday and she was confused as to why i was being scheduled for a c section if i could have just been induced and i didnt even think of that and im not sure why my doctor didnt present that option to me. I’ve called her today and they said she would get back to me and I havent heard from her but i really did not want to have another c section i really want to have a vaginal birth and my doctor knew this. Im so confused as to why im not able to be induced why do i HAVE to get a c section. Has anybody been through this or know what i can do? My c section is scheduled for Tuesday is it too late to change things?

Discuss your concerns with your doctor. You do have other options as long as you are not currently high risk. I was able to go into labor with a membrane sweep.

My doctor would not medically induce with drugs after a csection because of the risk of placenta abruption. However if baby came on her own then I could do it vaginally but forcing labor was a no no.

@damnkmar then your doctor can definitely do a membrane sweep, I had one done this past Monday and my doctor is going to do another one for me next monday too. I'm still debating if I want to be induced or not, they'll have to use pitocin and that will make my contractions kind of more painful like last time but we'll see. After a csection they can only induce you with pitocin or the foley balloon. It definitely seems like your doctor was just planning the csection for convenience if she didn't even mention the other options

@damnkmar and a membrane sweep is something a doctor does when you've begun to dilate. They take their finger and rub the inside if the cervix to basically break the membranes and vessels to help dilation progress better, it's not 100% guaranteed to work, it's like how sex is supposed to help and does pretty much the same thing.

This doesn’t seem right at all. I had a vbac at 42 weeks. I had to be induced at that point because my doctor said it would not be safe to go further. All went really well. I would ask all the questions you have and make sure you feel good about your choice.

OK so your due date is Sunday? It's not too late to say no to the csection. A lot of times doctors schedule repeat csections if you've had a prior one, not really sure why but a lot of times it's for safety reasons if they can't really remember why you had one last time and a lot of times it is for convenience. Now a days there are a lot of csection happy doctors. I am literally in the same situation. My due date is Tuesday but my doctor has me scheduled for a repeat csection next Friday morning, 3 days after my due date. He was originally just going to schedule me for the repeat at 39 weeks but I told him no, although he did first suggest induction but I didn't really want that either, I want to try to let my body do it all on it's own. So we discussed it a bit and he doesn't want me going past 41 weeks, he doesn't want the baby to be too big so that's why he scheduled the repeat for a few days after my due date but he also said that if I wanted to try, he could induce me the day before my repeat to see if my body can do it on its own but if it doesn't do much by the time my repeat is scheduled for then that's just going to have to be that way...

@itty_bitty, im not even familiar with a membrane sweep really, none of those alternatives were offered to me, she basically said to me if i dont have her this week on me own i have to get a c section i feel so horrible like i didn’t do all my research😔

@itty_bitty, im not really progressing as far as labor and so my OB told me this would be her last week to come vaginally and if not they would give me a c section but i rather be induced and try to push than to just be cut
