I’m scheduled for a c section Thursday and I’m a bit nervous.
Have any of you had a c section? If so what was your experience?
This will be my fifth one and I still feel nervous but you will be fine from my experience it was okay the only part I hate is the shot that will goes in my back
It isn’t bad as people say I’ve had two. Recovering from the second one has been a piece of cake almost no pain
That’s awesome. I’m hoping she comes soon so I don’t have to get one at all.
Prepare for gas pains, they were more painful then incision lol.
I was thinking about wearing these loose sweatpants. I never thought about putting a wash cloth over top of the incision, that’s a good idea!
@nijahmonaee you're very welcome. I was nervous about it when mine turned into an emergency c section. I had no idea what to expect. Don't read too much online. I swear it will have you scared shitless lol
@kason.dylons.mamma, yess! I was so scared at first. I was honestly starting to cry
@nijahmonaee it's perfectly normal. But the main thing to focused on is you're going to be holding your beautiful baby no matter how it's born. That's all to look forward too.
Also don't let anything rub your incision , I always had a wash cloth covering it when I wore sweat pants . In the house I just wore panties unless company came over lol you also get pain meds and if need more your ob will prescribe more for you. Mine made me sick so I had mine switched to something less strong. Didn't need them after 3 days of being home. You will feel like it's ripping open and burning but it's all normal. Also sharp pains are normal as long as it's not bleeding or ripped your staples will come out within 6 weeks. The stitches inside you Will dissolve on there own.
I had an emergency c section. I was in labor for 39+ hours and tried pushing for 3.5 hours . He wouldn't fit the rest of the way and was distressed and losing oxygen. Once the doors close behind you no-one can come in. You're made sure you are numb. Your spouse has to stay behind the curtain at all times because you can get an infection you have to wear the PPE stuff which is a shower cap like hat, a whole body suit and shoe covers and a mask over your mouth for the spouse. Your legs are tied down and if need be they strap your arms down too. If at any moment you feel pain the one guy is there to insert more meds into your i.v . The only issue I had was I wasn't all the way numb and the pressure you feel sucks so bad. I ended up passing out from al the pressure and had my arms strapped down as I was about to rip the curtain down but stopped myself . The recovery for me was I was in the hospital for a 5 days. And when I returned home I didn't do much but I did get up and move around . As bad as it hurt it helps you heal faster. The personal care for it sucked though. You could wash your incision but you couldn't rub wash it you had to pat wash it and you had to make sure it was dry all the way so you wouldn't get an infection. The muscles they cut literly do everything for you. When you sit up when you sit down when you cough and when you laugh you feel ALL of the pain. It sucks and hurts sometimes after the birth a few months later or even never some spots will be numb and you won't be able to feel them. But regardless it's all worth it in the end. I never had a spinal tap I only had an epidural with mine so it could be way different with a spinal tap. That is for feeling the pressure and stuff. The procedure will stay the same.
@mommiieeof2, yes ma’am! I’m trying to mentally prepare myself for everything so I can go in brave.
@nijahmonaee, youll be fine dont be scared or anything just stay calm
Just walk after u have the baby and stay active and youll be fine and the best thing ever was freezing a pad with aloe vera dont keep it on the incision but when its burning or hurting it was such a relief ! ... and one tip I learned is to keep a pad on the incision because it can leak just keep it as clean as possible but dont keep it super wet
@nijahmonaee, me neither tell some of my friends who had a c section by the same doctor told me
@mommiieeof2, that’s smart! Thank you so much for your response 💜
Honestly the healing process is difficult for me it hurt just sitting up or sitting back down and what made it worse is the doctor I had put metal staples in so it hurt to stand up straight ! I was good after about a week but 2 weeks is when I was fully able to get back to everything I was doing n wear jeans because jeans hurt at first cause if underwear or anything rub near your incision scar its really uncomfortable and hurts a lil ..
I want my fiancé there the entire time. I’m worried he won’t be allowed to be there while they’re cutting me.
I had a scheduled c section. I was so nervous and got the shakes but I honestly felt so good afterwards. I was up and walking as soon as my epidural wore off and I needed no pain meds what so ever but I have a high pain tolerance. It was hard to walk up my stairs and to sit up from a laying down position but other than that I felt good. The only part I hated was when they pushed on my stomach in recovery.
@maddiesmommy16, I went to the mall the 2 days after we got discharged to return my daughters coming home outfit that didn’t fit and walked around for about 15 mins and my mom is a RN and I got lectured by her because I shouldn’t have been walking that much but I felt good and wanted to get out.
@maddiesmommy16, okay good! That was one of my biggest worries. I want to be able to move around and tend to my babygirl
@maddiesmommy16, lol hopefully I’m feeling that good and can move around afterwards.
That’s not bad, I’m still trying natural things to induce my labor but nothing is working. Hopefully she comes before Thursday.
Were you nervous? I saw a video with a mom saying they cut you open before the spouse comes in the room.
My experience was great. The only thing that sucked for me was I got really bad gas pains.
@nijahmonaee about a week for the sore ness but I healed very good
@mommyandstepmommy, that’s awesome! I’m praying I heal pretty quickly and correctly.

Both of mine were c sections... take the pain meds as soon as offered (they know what they are doing) and walk right away! Get up and get moving! 🥰 I was feeling amazing within 5 days! Just take it slow. I liked to stay up but not active... the longer you sit the longer it takes to recover but don’t get that confused with active walking or chores. I simply mean standing, walking to the bathroom, do a slow walk down the hallway pushing the baby... slow and simple but I SWEAR by it!!!!
