Scheduled C-section moms
I've noticed some of you already have C-Sections scheduled and I am curious as to why? I'm not being judgy I promise :)
It saddens me to see all these women being told they can not deliver vaginally, especially at such an early stage of pregnancy. Even with all the research out there stating over and over again the endless benefits for mother and baby, doctors still tell women they can't do it, or that they won't. It's absurd. How in the world did we have babies prior to an operating room and the convenience of scheduling? I wish more women would do some research themselves and listen to their own bodies before blindly following the godly word of the OB.
Yes I know there are some women who do actually medically require a cesarean. That number of women is no where near the amount actually having them.
Mine will most likely be on Oct 15th. My dr only does surgery on thursdays. My daughter was born csection because my pelvis is /\ instead of \/. At least that's how it was explained to me lol. I had preeclampsia with my daughter and she was born at 36w6d. Long story short I had no choice, and I'm perfectly ok with it. I had a great recovery and hope for the same with this one.
I had a c-section with my last, but with this one we are planning a v-back. It depends on your doctor if they do v-backs, and also your body. I have had two babies vaginally already, and one c-section. So the doctor knows my body can have a baby vaginally. I only had a c-section because my son's feet were wrapped up in his umbilical cord and was stuck inside me. So hopefully we will be successful with a v-back.
I had three egg sized fibroids removed from my uterus this past summer. I was told then that if I get my miracle baby, it will have to be delivered by C section. So, I know that somewhere between the 12 and 16, pending no complications and need to come earlier, I will be having baby boy by C section!
As of right now my doctor wants to schedule my c section at 39 weeks. I never progressed past 3cm and was in labor for almost a day. My water wouldn't break and he was not coming down! I asked about a vbac and they told me that because my reasoning for a c section was "failure to dilate" that they suggested a repeat c section. I don't think my office is very pro vbac, although it would be nice to try!
I have mine set for 39 weeks because I had one with my first after I pushed for two hours and labor for 17 lol. My tailbone points really inward so unless the baby was super small or they broke my tailbone there is not getting by it. I also hemorrhaged really bad so I was lucky I ended up with a c section so they could control the bleeding.
You don't have to let anyone do anything to your body that you don't want to be done. No one can make you hop on an OR table and they cut you wide open. No one can make you vaginally push a baby out if you don't want too. Your body is your body! If you for some medical reason cannot push a baby out then a c section is best but if nothing is stopping you after having a csection or not push your baby out. So many doctors want to take the easy way out and cut women open because it's quick and convenient for them. That makes me sick to my stomach to see some women be so willingly to go along with whatever a doctor says when it's not medically necessary.
My hospital and doctors are big on VBAC, but you have to be a candidate in the 3rd trimester. Right now I'm a candidate, but that could change depending how it goes with this baby and their size. The biggest concern is hemorrhages and unfortunately I have heard about them more often. If i happen to go into labor early without my scar being checked and such I'm not sure I would be able to VBAC. This is stuff I plan to ask about soon. But if your doctor or hospitals don't do VBACs then yeah you have to have a repeat c-section. And if you do i kindly would like to tell women to ask if they offer gentle c-sections so you can see baby right away.
I'm most likely going to have another c-sec as well but have not scheduled it yet. I had a scheduled c-sec with my first bc she was breeched and honestly I thought it was the easiest thing ever. I was 39 weeks..and when the day came I was calm and excited. No pain or contractions..got hooked up to the IV and epi..and when the time came for the surgery they wheeled me in..I was awake the whole time..felt a bunch tugging and pushing then 15 mins later I hear a baby crying. It does suck that you don't get to hold them but my husband did and we were cheek to cheek for awhile until they took her to get cleaned. My recovery time was pretty quick too I was walking the next day and 5 days later I was doing laundry on my own.
I asked my docs about VBAC but unfortunately they don't do them. I'm not switching doctors because I've been with them since 2007 so it'll be another c section. He said they'll schedule it a week in advance but we haven't "officially" set the date but my DD is 10/1 so my c section will be 9/24 unless she comes sooner.
I'm having a cs not scheduled yet exactly although we agreed on October 1. I have had 2 emergency cs because while I can handle labor my babies have not handled it well. I heal very well with the cs so I'm not worried. Doctor says I can vbac if I want to but I've had enough stress this pregnancy I want something to go smoothly.
I was the same way! I was against csections even as they wheeled me in the or.
I wanted a vaginal birth so bad. But my water broke at 35 weeks and I was in labor 12 hours and didn't progress past 4cm. The baby's hr dropped and after an hour of awkward positions it didn't go up so we had an emergency csection. I yelled & cried. I was so against it. But I needed one...
This time i welcome a csection. My reasoning for not wanting one was I wanted skin to skin interaction after birth and I was afraid of missing out because of the meds. My dr was aware and put him cheek to cheek with me immediately and I was able to see him for a few min before he was cleaned up.
I'm not stressing a csection this time, my recovery was easy and I got extra time out of work to be with my baby!!
Ok, I can see that. I was mostly asking out of fear. Irrational to be terrified of but, we all have our crazy lol.
This will be my 5thsection, first birth couldn't dilate tried a vbac on second but same thing happened so ended up with multiple sections, I'm in Nov group dd1st Nov but my bub will be born last wk of October 12w3d
