I supposedly had GD. At my 36 week ultrasound they said baby was 7lb 11 oz and I should talk induction at my next appointment. I told them to fuck off. (They also said I was full term at 36.4 🙄 and asked if I had a previous c-section or if I went the “easy way” so I had it). So yes they scare you and jump to induction.

its ridiculous. My mom got a c section at 16 for no reason. Like no reason at all. I was that baby. Later in life when she got married and had kids she delivered naturally all of them. the c section was completely unnecessary and juct cause the doctor was lazy and got more money off of it

@laniejay So when you did have him/her was it induction?

I'm just not understanding why a Gest patient would be induced at all if weight is normal and sugar is controlled. I think that's crazy they already have that prospective with my niece...

@angelfoodcake, he came on his own at 37.6. they offer induction assuming that every GD baby will be huge.

@laniejay my Gest baby in 2005 was 5'14 and my diabetic baby in 2015 was 6'7

@josefa @laniejay @squishymommy1 So I gave my niece my take, told her I'm def not a doc but at least ask a lot of questions, that way they at least can assume you have some knowledge and curiosity ya know. She's young .

@blakeslatinmama, I had a similar experience . My ob automatically induces at 39 weeks also. He planned to induce me at 37 but around 35 he decided not to and just go for 39 . I had GD and was on insulin. My sugar was not under control without the insulin no matter what I ate. They wanted to induce me at 39 weeks but due to low fluid they induced at 38. They kept telling me how big my baby was but he was only 7.3lbs. I guess they induce so that it’s a controlled environment. That way they are ready if something happens.
