Thanks everyone! It is really unfortunate how companies have to pay for other peoples lack of common sense! I would never leave her unsupervised in it, but I am guilty of setting her on the counter or on the table when I feed her. I am alway right there and she just sits and plays. The moment she starts to arch her back, I can tell she wants out so I take her out of it. :-)

It makes sense about their backs too! I didn't put her in it until she started sitting up on her own.

My dd loves hers. She is desperate to sit up and the bumbo is great. Wouldn't leave her unsupervised though.

nope she's jealous sounds like, she wants her baby to have all the attention. I use mine for dd to lay on her back while co sleeping, the Dr said she needs to be elevated.

I have read about the bumbo might tumble backwards when the baby arches their back forceful enough. So i put my bumbo at the corner, with pillows in between bumbo n walls. So far so good. I love feeding my son in it, so he cant crawling away from me lol

Yeah, on the floor!!! Usually with some toy in front. But there wre a few times I had her oj my desk, againat the wall, while I scrapbooked and she played....welll chomped on blocks and stuff :) but I loves her playing the piano in it! I figured the back support was way better then none. I do not remember exactly how old she was when she first went in it. I want to say around 6 months....she was ready for it!

I'm yet to love mine..I knew a gal that had one her daughter adored hers as well. She was always climbing in and out of hers. On.the floor that is.

I have one too.. got it and a tray from my baby shower baby girl is only a month so no need to use it till she is mature enough.

The only thing wrong with the bumbo is the parents using it as a baby sitter

My dd loves hers. I put her in it at 6 months when she was sitting herself. I would NEVER put it on a high surface. Its always on the ground.

I only put dd in it if I am eating quick or doing dishes. I usually sit her right next to the sink and me and sing to her the whole time. She giggles but is only in it for a few minutes usually

My LO's physical therapist advisedly against it until 6 months of age. She said it doesn't allow a baby to strengthen their muscles or spine to support sitting. I was going to get one too :( now I have to wait!

Yes, the recall was to put a warning on them not to leave babies unsupervised on high surfaces.

They are not meant for a 2 month old child and some stupi people put their child in it when they were way too young. Just follow the warnings and they are fine.

My son doesn't like his and tries to flip out of it. He's 5 months old. I would never even leave him unattended on the floor in it.

I believe from what the news said was that babies can fall backwards and hit their head and that they shouldnt be put on high surfaces and not to be left unattended. The company just put a warning on them and then they were allowed back on the shelves. Correct me if I'm wrong. I'd look it up just to be safe. I'm pretty sure that's what they were saying.

My DD is 6.5 months old and she can already sit up on her own. We only started putting her in it a month ago when she could sit up... But she can be wobbly and fall backwards still so it really helps out! She loves being up and playing!

I won't get one either. I didn't have one with my first. it forces them to sit when they normally wouldn't be able to on their own

Well I have never left her unsupervised in it. I have put her on the table in it because she likes to be eye level with everyone and see what's going on, but I sit next to her the whole time. I would never leave her unattended, that's just stupid parenting!

apparently they cause back problems because children are forced to sit ain a position they wouldwt naturally be in until they are ready, so it puts strain on muscles etc that aren't ready to support that weight. makes sense. so I won't be getting one now unfortunately

There was a big thing on them in the news awhile back because poor little babies were getting hurt in them because their stupid parents we leaving them unsupervised on counters and tables and they fell :(
