I made a joke the other day at work about putting a Michael Bolton dvd on replay in our store. Both my older coworker and I laughed while my 24 year old coworker looked at us puzzled. I had to explain to her that he is a singer from the 80s on. But manily popular in the 80s and 90s.... Needless to say she didnt get the joke. Lmao. ?

You can love music and not know who every artist someone else may like is. Everyone was raised differently with different music, I'm sure there's artist I may enjoy that not everyone is familiar with. That doesn't make me sad or hate anyone though it's just how it is. Obviously people can live, and love music without knowing who this guy is ??‍♀️

This post makes me so, so sad. If you love music you should know the history of music, or at least some of the history. Iconic artists are all they're cracked up to be because they made were pioneers of music in their time, which is WHY they are iconic. ?

Born in 88, love that song and his voice, but can't listen to tears in heaven anymore (too sad). The name, along with Lola (which reminds me of the Kinks song) have become so popular! After Hey There Delilah came out, seemed like tons of Lilas were born. 30 years from now no one will know what band sang it either but will be interesting to see which names from pop culture arise and take over.

Don't worry my little sister and brother are 29 and 21 and know who he is but we were brought up in a household full of music of different genres and world music too. I think it's great having a wide music collection ??

But that would not have been the first thing I thought my sister is called Laila and I would have thought it was a middle eastern name first.

Tears in heaven makes me cry every time I hear it. My mom picked that song for my son. It was also the one she picked for my brothers funeral too when he passed away.

And this is one thing i appreciate about my parents, they passed on a taste gor iconic music. Im 27, I know all the words to atleast 10 of his songs.

I was born in 79 (??) and I'm really only familiar with "tears in heaven"--which is incredibly hard to listen to if you know the back story. He has an amazing voice though. I did hear the name growing up, just didn't listen to much of his music.

What music or tv shows other people watch has no effect on my day to day life. Not really sure why GoT was brought into this, yeah, the show has some sick scenes. I mean, I'm 25 and I love him. But.... hating a generation for this is ridiculous. And saying "are you serious" when others haven't heard of him or don't like him, is also ridiculous. Fack, are you for real sonny!!?? ? He's a singer-guitarist from the 60s+. He was in yardbirds, Derek and the dominoes, and he did a solo career too. He's easily one of the top 10 guitarists of all time.

Not everyone is a fan of his genre of music. I was born in 1990 and the only reason I know who he is is because my parents listened to him when I was little.

I don't know who he is either but I'm only 20, so maybe that's why?
