Well I was about to go to bed...and then I get stung by this thing.
I don't think I would sleep for a long long time if that happened to me.
Well... On a positive note this makes me feel a lot better about the critters we have here in Canada... Maybe I really am a baby freaking out over spiders when you're over there dealing with scorpions and tarantulas and shxt....????????
I'm fine! I slept with the lights on last night though and kept waking up every couple hours due to being paranoid lol.
We have those in Arkansas too. When I first moved here from Michigan, I was laying in bed and I saw one of the little effers slither under the door. I didn't know we had them here, so I trapped it under a Tupperware and called my husband at work crying until he came home and killed it. A week later, my son (he was only about 9 months old) was about to pick one up and put it in his mouth until my husband smashed it. We didn't know it was even in our apartment. Since moving to this house in 2013, I haven't seen one thank goodness. I hope you're okay OP!
Nope nope nope!!! I found a brown racluse in our house, since my husband insisted we are now currently packing to move... i can never imagine finding one of those in my home let alone my bed. Hell no. I would leave everything i owned in the house and just leave... fack that
^pp in Tx too and we have what you described. We just built our house and they are still building in our community = scorpions constantly being stirred up. I reached in our fruit bowl when pregnant and the little $hit stung me on my hand. Scared me to death! Stomped on it and put ice- felt like wasp sting. They creep me out. One was also on our back porch and I didn't notice until my 2 yo was hammering the patio with a bat and he had killed one?
We've got them here in S.C ?
How are you op?
Edit: I can't recall ever seeing one this color though, I believe I've only seen black ones.
Edit again: just read the comments, I haaaaate wolf spiders! Every time I see a big spider I feel like they're on me and have the urge to strip my clothes off. I ran across one of those mofo's a few weeks ago and bout got naked in the front yard ?
Call poison control to be sure of the type of scorpion. Depending on where you live I may not be poisonous. Yes they all have venom but some are not dangerous even though they are small. I live in GA and the small brown ones here are not poisonous. It hurts stings/burns but it won't kill you or cause permanent damage.
However treating a sting of any kind right away with vinegar neutralizes the venom and eases discomfort and stops the spread of the venom. You can also ice the area to constrict the blood vessels and slow down the spread while you figure out what to do.
I've actually seen a momma scorpion with babies all over its back though and the same thing happens when you kill them, they scatter everywhere. ?
I'm fine right now but it is starting to sting a bit more. I googled symptoms and I don't think a trip to urgent care is necessary. Maybe I'll call off work tmrw though ?
I'm in phx.
I'm freaking out now guys, what if my son gets stung?! He has his own room I wouldn't even know if he did.
I've seen small scorpions in my house. They're smaller than that and brown. They're very common here if you live in the woods. But my niece got stung by one and it was just like a bee. They just put something on it to stop the pain and let it heal. But I would call the doctor just to double check because I've never seen one like that lol.
I hate it here too.
I was so ready for bed and now I don't think I'll be getting any sleep ?
I called poison control they just said to put a cold compress on it and take some Tylenol. Said they'd call me in an hr to see if I'm having anymore symptoms.
I already killed it and flushed it though
I live in Tempe, having just moved here from Phoenix. Probably going to use a flame thrower on the bed before getting in, just to make sure tonight.
Worst fear!
My aunt had a new construction here when I was a kid and they had scorpions in the house. Just a battle you fight for disturbing them. I need to remember they exist here. Just because I haven't seen them doesn't mean they aren't here!
