GO THE f*** TO SLEEP!
Aggghhhhh! My 1 yr old won't stop crying or whimpering! It's been nearly 2 hours! Not hungry, dry diaper, nothing on her fingers or toes, no fever, no ear infection, no vomiting or diarrhea, NOTHING! She's normally an easy sleeper. I just had a 3 day weekend, but tonight she wants to be fussy?! She has dozed briefly a few times but wakes up crying again. I'm losing it! I need to sleep! I even dragged her into my son's bed but it didn't help. Now he's awake too, and trying to hug her. I'm going to be cranky tomorrow...
My daughter eventually fell asleep. She's not teething right now, and her ears are still clear. She may have had growing pains or general funk. She got her 1 yr shots Friday, so she may just feel icky. I didn't go wake my son up. We went to his bed because he was already in mine, asleep. He woke up and joined us because I bed share whenever he chooses. He snuggled her too, and cheered her up. We all went to sleep and I got a 16oz coffee on my way to work. There was no yelling, swearing, or anything else. It was a vent post, plain and simple. Geez.
Lunasmommy drops the mic! My new hero!
Cornholio, you can vent to me if you want, I would vent right back! We all need someone who won't judge us or throw us shade because we choose to disclose our real, true feelings and thoughts.
Zombiekitten, you're doing a great job. I hope tonight is better than last night. Hang in there!
Whoa. Obviously I'm one of the people you feel are "bullying" op. And I'm not sure why. I said she doesn't know if she had an ear infection. And then I said I don't think she's quoting a book title. Which by the way, yes, everyone knows is an actual book. Bullying is a strong word. Use it wisely.
As for the elephant thing. I actually didn't even see the post about striking her son. I said I don't think she was quoting a book because I really didn't think she was quoting a book. And op, if you have the book, read it to her next time ?
And the perfect parent stuff...I can't even defend myself because I literally said I was perfect ? lol obviously no ones perfect. Relax guys.
I knew when I click on this, all the perfect parents would come rushing in.
Give me a f*** ing break.
1. It's a god damn book and
2. Pretty sure we've all felt this way
??
Sorry OP, I hope you were able to get some sleep.
My kid is the perfect sleeper except for nights when I get to sleep in ?
6:25am here, just woke from a good facking sleep where my son didn't wake me in the night (thank you son) and neither did my weak and as of yesterday, "pants wetting" bladder. (In the morning people. In my classroom. Where I teach 12-13yr olds.)
Z I hope you all got some sleep.
Ladies, reading all of this helped open my eyes and wake up. High horses all over the place. ?
Magenta it was meant to be funny because I assumed your first comment about my punctuation was meant to be funny too? I even apologized for my posts being difficult to read and tried to be better with my punctuation.
I assumed your first reply to me was in a humorous tone. Maybe it wasn't?
*Warning. Last novel. Then I retire to my warm bed and my real novel for the night. * Summary at the end ?
Alarming. Okay.
So I would expect a response like "okay OP. Don't repeat past mistakes"
Or... You have all said this big post you all are hanging over her head was also about sleeping so maybe like "well OP you have been through sleepless nights before. The good thing is you have handled it better than before."
Actually lulu, just had to look back. A bit like your response. Maybe not quit so rude. But still not sugar coating s*** , but not just bringing up her past crap just to level up your ? status.
But. If it's so alarming, I don't see how replying "?" is productive? Or simply reminding everyone on BB of her past posts? It's not. And to be blunt and to go with the lack of sugar coating theme we have going.....
You can all sit there and think up how you can talk your way out of it. But you know perfectly well that by bringing up that s*** , you are doing nothing but trying to intimidate OP. You can weasel around and try to find another word for how you are acting. Doesn't make it any more productive and it still isn't reflecting good qualities in yourself. So whatever. I call it bullying. You can call it whatever you like. At the end of the day, it's still not making you a better person. So maybe you should all do a little more self reflection instead of trying to Dr Phil OP. ??
Anyway. I wrote what I wrote because I've been on here for 4 years and have seen this s*** go round and round. Just with new faces every so often. Because unfortunately. An elephant may not forget, but on BB the elephants life span isn't a very long one. They usually retire to BB heaven at an early age due to their "not bullying". And I'm hoping if nothing else, maybe at least one of you will read my posts and take them to heart instead of going directly on the defense. Maybe change your ways? Be a little less about ? status. Find a little lenience and forgiveness. I don't expect all of you to. But maybe just one of you will. And BB will be better for it.
Summary for OG:::
Doesn't matter how well you all play your words. A bully is a bully.
Moral of the story::: still stands. Rise above it.
Bravo @luna!
Funny how some people that commented here, putting op down for her past faults (in which she attempted to make right with her son, immediately-she didn't have to make everything right with y'all) are in turn hiding from their past by using a new user name ?. Funny how u can put her down but u are quick to talk crap about everyone on here on a different social media..
Zombie has been through a lot in the last year and she is trying her best. We all falter at some point, multiple times.. We can all understand just being tired, being up all night with our little ones then having to go to work a full shift only to come home and do it all again.. It's tough..
@zomb this won't last, hopefully! Maybe tonight, I shall pray you find peace..
Luna, OG is not being a bully, you're pulling that term out way too loosely here. No one is bullying here but OP has had past frustrations with her kids not sleeping that ended in one being physically hit, so to see this title from her would be alarming considering her past. It's simple.
I only summarized for you. In my original reply, I mentioned it wasn't solely directed at you.
But just because you don't bring every users past up on every post, makes you no less of a bully. Doesn't matter if you bully one person, or one hundred. You are still a bully.
Bully-
Noun
1.
a blustering, quarrelsome, overbearing person who habitually badgers and intimidates smaller or weaker people.
Ok OG. I didn't realize you were so against reading, considering you have obviously read and recorded all of OPs previous posts.
Summary ::: being an ? is basically being a bully and sugar coating that s*** . Which is ironic considering you all claim to not be about "sugar coating". And being an ? and bringing up every users past mistakes isn't really benefiting anyone. Not you. Not her. Not anyone.
Moral of the story:: rise above it. Be a better person than that.
The. End. (An excessive period just for magentas reading pleasure)
Just because she didn't have an ear infection on Friday doesn't mean she can't have one today (or last night.) I don't care what anyone says, if a baby is crying it is because SOMETHING is wrong. I find it very strange that you took her into your sons room and woke him up as well... I feel sorry for both of them :/ hope she feels better today.
IAmYourOG. Still irrelevant.
And what I said still stands.
The chick isn't a saint. Oh well. Neither am I. And it's safe to assume neither are you. Actually. It's perfectly reasonable to assume neither are you, seeing as you are partaking in this online bully nonsense.
BB can have all these codes. Oh. I'm not mean. I'm just not sugar coating s*** . Well. News flash. I don't sugarcoat s*** either. And I often am blunt and to the point on here, without making a personal attack on a person. There's a difference.
The ?? thing? That's nothing more than a code for "I'm a bully. I will never forget anything you have ever done or said on the sanctified grounds of BB and I will uphold our unspoken laws of beating a dead horse when it's down. Because. I'm an ?? and I won't forget. BUT. I also will never ever divulge any of my personal failures for should you choose to be an ?? you could possibly use that one day to beat me while I'm down. And this is all okay. Because I'm not admitting I'm a bully. I'm just an ?? who doesn't forget!"
All I'm saying. Is you don't have to be that "??".
You don't have to bring up every users past discretions on every post from now until the end of BBs existence. You just don't have to. It's not necessary.
And honestly. What are any of you who do that elephant nonsense really solving? I mean really think about it. Are you impacting anyone's life in a positive way because you have retained information you stumbled upon months ago and have yet to let it go? Is it making you a better person? Is it making OP a better person?
Aren't these the same things we belly on about in real life? "Jesus my mom will never forget that time I stole $20 from her purse when I was 16." And that's not okay. But getting on the Internet and persecuting some random person you don't even know because they divulged embarrassing and damning information about themselves in a desperate moment (or two or three or ten because like you said "that's not the only post being referred to". Ya know. Cuz we are only allowed one screw up in our years of parenthood).
All I'm saying. Is some of you, and I'm not just directing this at you IAmYourOG, seriously need to step back and ask yourself how invested you are in this app on your phone to be able to remember every damning post one user has made in her time here
I don't think any of us are above taking a break from BB when we get a little too wrapped up in the drama. Kind of reevaluate what the purpose of this app is all about. I'm not saying "support". I'm saying, is the purpose of this app to display every awful part of ourselves and to be that person that i HOPE most of us strive our whole lives not to be? Just because it's NOT real life?
Eek. I dunno. Just hope we can all strive to be a little better than all that petty nonsense. ??????
I've gotten to points where I was begging dd to sleep and almost at tears when she kept waking up because I was just so exhausted. So I get ranting on BB and not taking it out someplace else. To bad some people think your actual saying that to your kid lol
Anyway, do you know if she is starting to teeth again? I think they get molars around 12 months? I know dd is the 19 months and is getting some molars, chewing on fingers poor sleep fussy all that.
I could be wrong but if I remember correctly op is doing this own her own as in dad isn't in the picture, when I had my first son I was doing it on my own and it was 1000 times more stressful. I had no support system no one to hand baby to when I got overwhelmed and that can make all the difference. Not making excuses for op but I can sympathize with what she is going through. We all have moments parenting that we aren't proud of at least I know I have made mistakes along the journey of parenthood.
Yes, Chels!! Her version is now my favorite. ????
Oh boy have I had these nights. Rarely do they fuss on nights when you have no where to be the next day. ???
The last three nights my son has slept exceptionally well. I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop and for him to go back to the horrid sleeper he usually is. ?
Slapping your kid is awful. EXTREMELY.
I'm not saying that's right.
However, my mother slapped me as a child. Out of frustration. Actually it mirrored OPs situation quite a lot. Except I was old enough to remember.
Is my mother an awful mom? Nope. She made a mistake. And she later came to me and apologized crying her eyes out and begging for my forgiveness.
You people act like you are Saints.
I swear sometimes I feel like it's insecurity? Like. Oh my god! Look at this awful terrible thing you did and are actually willing to admit that you did it! How AWFUL of you! Because I prefer to keep all of my horrible decisions secrets and bottle them up inside. Or alternatively. Just ignore them all together. Or even more alternatively. Simply find the worst of others to make the worst of yourselves appear a little less awful.
Whatever. This is the BB routine. And. I am admittedly not perfect. There have been users on here who have made posts and admitted some pretty awful s*** and months later that's all I remembered them for.
But I've seen the error of those ways. And I'm just saying this because maybe? Just maybe? All you ?? just feel like you have some sort of obligation to remember these things and hold it over people's heads? Well. I'm just letting you know. If that's the case. You aren't obligated to hold people's mistakes over their heads. No one will think any less of your status as a resident BB ? if you happen to find it within your red beating hearts to not FORGET what you know, but maybe find a little ounce of lenience? Or dare I say it, forgiveness? For a fellow mom. You know. Because banding together is a lot more effective than tearing each other to shreds for entertainment.
I don't know just a thought.
Look into co-sleeping. My dd used to have these nights regularly. Now, we co-sleep. In fact, I feel awesome, too because I usually end up falling asleep with her at 7 and getting a fantastic nights sleep ??
I must say that the cuddles you get to have in the middle of the night are also awesome! Or watching them wake up slowly and full of smiles to see you ?
Some parents wouldn't agree but co-sleeping has saved my sanity! We have a big enough bed to co-sleep as a family so daddy is also getting all the cuddles!
Yes and she took full responsibility for those posts and apologized to her son as well as took measures to ensure it wouldn't happen again.
She could write the book on how to come back from a pretty dark place. I mean, who's going to be at their wits end being newly single with a stressed out family and handling everything on their own?
I'll admit Zombie seems abrasive to me at first and I was kinda worried about her too - but she's a freaking amazing mom to admit she screwed up, ask for help, take the help offered and change things. She's not a bad mom - she's probably just tired and who doesn't want Samuel l Jackson's voice saying "go the f to sleep' at times in their heads.
Ds went through the 10 month sleep regression. Last night was the first night I've slept more than 2 hours. Saturday night he was screaming and screaming and screaming (assumed it was him just not wanting to sleep). Yes it was frustrating, and if I wasn't so tired and my eye balls were drying up and shriveling out of my skull I would have cried with him. But we realized he was constipated and SO had to go out at 3:30am and bought prune concentrate and baby prunes.
I don't get this "perfect parent" crap. We all have issues with our kids but like PPs have said we remember certain comments that were made.
I'm far from perfect. I have my days where I HAVE to call my parents or husband to take over before I lose my s*** . We all go through it we just don't broadcast it on a forum.
She could be teething, upset stomach, headache and regular aches & pains that everyone gets. I mean she's a baby, she can't tell you so try to be there for her and not get frustrated.
Lmfao at the "why tonight" ? like she is a baby
If anything, put her in a her crib and leave her in there ( if your that frustrated) babies can sense our anger and frustration and won't calm down.
If I saw this post from someone else I wouldn't be alarmed but considering I recall you slapping your son out of frustration because he woke up early, it's better safe than sorry to assume you're actually frustrated. Glad you didn't lose your temper though and it's just the book title.
Just because she's venting here doesn't mean she was over there yelling go the f*** to sleep to her kid.
That's why we vent? So that we have a less damaging outlet for our frustrations? Although sometimes on BB I think that backfires. ? we end up getting bashed for having normal parenthood frustrations.
lol.
Sometimes I imagine some of the moms on here as 1950s Stepford wives. Like robotic, prim and proper with hair perfectly maintained. Lipstick never smeared. 5 course meals served to their perfect husbands every evening. Children with not one tiny hair out of place. Complete with floral apron and spotless homes.
Lol
Ah well. I much enjoy my life as a mediocre mom. You know? Those ones that get mad sometimes. And occasionally (ok maybe often) make a mistake. But then later feel bad about it. Yeah. Those are the moments I know I'm a good mediocre mom. Because of the guilt I feel over the frustrations I feel and the times I want to yank my hair out of my head and lock myself into the bedroom with a bottle* no scratch that ---- make it a gallon box of wine and a mountain of junk food. So I can cry and get drunk and fat in peace for one stinking evening.
Then wake up. Smile at my beautiful child. And start another day as a pretty damn awesome --- but still --- mediocre mom.
Get off your high horses people.
And OP hope your next night goes better.
Weren't you the one who got really upset with your son for waking you up before 8? It seemed like you were genuinely mad about your daughter not sleeping last night. I don't get to nap either. I have a 4 week old and 1.5 yr old who is 90 to nothing so I definitely know what it's like to not sleep, burning aliens and it's our jobs as mothers to make our babies feel safe and secure no matter what.
I can't nap today, I work. I'll just guzzle coffee later.
Nes, why do you assume I wasn't quoting the book?! It's the first baby present my mom bought when I had my first child.
I didn't just put her in my son's bed, I took her there to change the environment. We all snuggled together. He got her to smile! She still wasn't comfortable, so we went back to my bed.
I DO NOT EVER do cry it out; it is proven to be damaging to children.
She eventually fell asleep in my arms and has been sleeping. I know everyone gets an off night.
Wow, people, calm down. It's a book title. I know she doesn't have an ear infection because she's not sick and had her well baby check Friday and they looked in her ears. Of course I comforted her. It's called venting, she was literally in my arms when I posted... I bed share once she wakes, so she hasn't been alone or even more than 6 inches from me since she woke up.
If this isn't normal behavior I'd be patient and maybe it could be something you can't automatically detect.
Instead of saying "* f*** ing go to sleep "
Try to figure out what's wrong.
My DD is a happy baby, always has been. She a great sleeper never fussy through the night. One night just like your lo, she was crying bloody murder. No fever, no ear infection, I stripped her down to make sure nothing was bothering her, offered food, held her, even offered boob and she would turn it down (which was most surprising to me). After 1.5 hours of trying to soothe her and figure out what's wrong we ended up taking her to urgent care where they determined she had a UTI and prescribed her antibiotics. No way for us to know this. A baby can't talk or two you what's wrong...
Like I said, if this is not normal behavior then breathe and be patient babies never cry just because.
Those nights can be the worst - why couldn't she have it yesterday wien you didn't need to go to work in the morning, right?
Kids are kids and it happens but I've sat there and bawled when my amazing little sleeper has decided "I'm super baby - who needs to nap/sleep?" (Answer: you do. You really really do).
Hopefully she's settled down and your little helper has went back to bed too!! Any chance of a tooth ache, growing pains or ear ache maybe? Our no sleep nights turned out to be teething or when his foot was casted backwards and it hurt him (it also took us 4 hours to clue into that being the problem bc I was so tired from Travelling with him all day).
Good luck!
Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no,
his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me...
TWW!!
2dpo and on the tww journey. Anyone on the same dpo or close? Haven't decided if I will test at 12dpo or just wait and see if she shows up!!
Transgender children
So I just learned that in my kids school district (my kids aren't in school yet my oldest will be starting kindergarten next September) there are twin boys who identify as girls. They are 5 years old. What's your opinions on this matter given they are 5!!! I don't believe that at that age they really understand the whole thing. So the entire school had to take a course on how to handle transgender children. For example they can't say girls go this or boys do that. What are...
Science!
My friend posted this on facebook last night and said her kids were asleep within minutes. It's a song that scientists created to help people fall asleep. I was skeptical but I thought what the hay, I'll try it out. I didn't bank on Dh falling asleep, but both him and lo were asleep by minute 2. And lo slept six straight hours. ?
It is a hilarious book title which also has a video that is narrated by Samuel l Jackson, go watch it on YouTube. It is f*** ing hilarious and me and my partner say this to ourselves almost every time my daughter won't sleep. God, give the lady a break. We have ALL as parents thought this or said it to ourselves hence why THERE ACTUALLY IS A KIDS BOOK called "Go the f*** to sleep". Use google, before calling her a liar.
