Transgender children
So I just learned that in my kids school district (my kids aren't in school yet my oldest will be starting kindergarten next September) there are twin boys who identify as girls. They are 5 years old. What's your opinions on this matter given they are 5!!! I don't believe that at that age they really understand the whole thing. So the entire school had to take a course on how to handle transgender children. For example they can't say girls go this or boys do that. What are your thoughts on the matter? Do u think the parents are behind this? Idk because I haven't met the parents or children. I just think at 5 it's very young for children to really understand. What do u ladies think?
I say WHO f*** IN CARES. No, I don't think the parents are forcing this on the boys. No, I don't believe it's a mental illness when people are trans.
People will do whatever they want to do. If my son wants to wear a dress, OK. If my son wants to play with "girl" toys, OK. If my son wants to put on his sister's sandals or pretend they're putting on make up, OK! Same with my daughter, if she wants to dress like a boy, fine with me. Play with "boy" toys? FINE WITH ME.
They're learning that it's ok to be different. It's ok that they are going against the "norm". Accept them for who they are, what they wish to be, how they decide to live their lives.
Calling trans people mental is just sickening. It's not a mental illness!!!
@wickedwitch not sure if you're responding to the girls that are the topic of the post being in your kids class or the 52 year old man claiming to be a 6 year old girl. Cuz I was referring to him as being in a child's class. Just wanted to specify that cuz by your comment it sounded like you were talking about the little kids that were from this topic. Which I would too let my children be in the ACTUAL kids class.
First of all God said to Love everyone as I have loved you. God is no respect of persons. He does good to everyone...the only thing is....that just doesn't have anything to do with saving your soul/salvation/obedience..that's completely separate. We all come through sin remember. Sin is sin but there are different punishments for them we just don't know what they are because we aren't God. So because we are not God or perfect we have to show love to everyone whether you agree with their lifestyle or not...because at the end of the day you will be judged how you treat others. Yes I do not agree with the lifestyle they're choosing but I will NOT teach my children to not show them kindness and compassion. I will absolutely not teach hate...and truthfully don't forget that pride/a proud look is also a sin. Don't disrespect the Lord Jesus by not loving everybody. We as parents/ppl don't have to teach our children to agree with others choices but we do have to teach our children to not mistreat others for their choices. Come on now..?
@thisis I'll save you a seat on the beach! Just look for the LGBT community and the ones that love and accept them for who they are. If not passing judgement and loving/accepting those for being themselves bounds me to "hell" then I'm busting it wide open. Proudly.
??? @dios that's for you and btw, that was all on purpose.
@lexi I wouldn't mind this child or any transgendered person in my children's classes. I hope that I've taught them to love and accept everyone as they are.
Guys omg!!! I changed my Facebook setting for language to "pirate" haha. It's really confusing though.
Dios will get her karma. I had a child out of wedlock and she is beautiful and sweet. I love her with all my heart and I am raising her. So I guess because she was out of wedlock I'm going to the beach with y'all. Even though I live my life with love and acceptance. I'll bring umbrellas :)
I think her god would be very disappointed in the hate she's spewing. She'll get hers. Don't worry y'all.
ETA my uncle and his husband have been together for 15 years. They aren't pedophiles in the slightest. I'd rather party with loving people in hell than judgmental higher than mighty a holes.
If the school is taking on board the wishes of these children then surly there would have been doctors / parents etc involved before hand? It's not like it could just be "a sudden whim of two kids" ??
I've not known anyone to have gone through something like this so I suppose this is just my general thinking / my opinion.
In regards to the other kids in the school I would hope things were kept on simple terms when discussing the matter and not done in great detail as that's a lot of information to process at such a young age. If any of my children were attending a school and this happened I would sit my kids down to explain to them how important it is to treat these kids with the same respect as anyone else they come into contact with. I would hope my kids didn't treat anyone different just because of the way they chose to live their life. Only the parents / teachers etc. Will know the full background and lifestyle of these two children in question. I'm don't follow a religion myself nor do my kids but it shouldn't be a factor when discussing these sort of things (IMHO!) If the two 5 year olds are healthy and happy then it shouldn't matter to any one else how they chose to be
*edit* with this, I fully believe that people can honestly feel uncomfortable in their own skin, I don't think being in the gay/lesbian/ transgender community is a sin in anyway. Nor do I think it's like a "switch" going off. I genuinely believe it's just how they are, it can't be drilled into them or programmed. They are who they are
Ugh u guys please I really can't afford any trouble here. Can we please stick to the subject of the post!!!
@diosvienepronto is vile. Claiming to be a christian, but you're spewing the most hate filled and disgusting comments. How funny that you're picking and choosing what applies and what doesn't when you're the one bound for eternal damnation with your many children out of wedlock, premarital sex, and utter disrespect for other human beings. What happened to "love thy neighbor?" It must read "love thy neighbor unless they're part of the LGBTQ community" in your bible. You are destined for a life of strife simply because of your own choices and actions. Not a blessing will come to you with your behavior, and you don't deserve kindness or respect. Disgusting.
I feel horrible and sad for the ladies and myself as well who are actively ttc for years, months, and or days with no luck while others who have children and are no mother to them or turn their backs on them rather it be race , religion, or sexuality. I would have my arm out stretched widely and welcoming them to my heart to be a mother too them I don't care what race, religion, or sexuality just know that they would be loved.
Some don't deserve to be mothers while others are desperately trying to be mothers.
There's no truth to speak to me because I know the truth myself. In fact , if call it lies because you guys don't know anything about me yet u think with the few things I've said u do know me. Wrong. Keep saying I abandoned my kids but u truly don't know what actually happened.
? I don't have a halo over my head like this guy
well idk lauren you feel free to tolerate anyone but I respect those that can at least be respectful. basically 89% of these women did not agree with me or my opinion and their opinions were far from mine but they gave their opinions respectfully and did not insult anyone. Pp on the other hand said extremely damaging things and I will not respect nor tolerate that.
Dios doesn't have too worry about or have the compassion to care if one day her child decides to become transgender becomes she throws her children away like trash I wouldn't say her baby now is safe she might decide to get rid of it too and decide to have another too see if she likes the next one better..
Rude? No no. She says she "wants" her kids back but then says they are staying with whomever they're with until they're 18? Like WHAAAT? I will NOT ever feel bad for a mother like her. She dumps her kids on someone else and leaves them until they are an adult? Yeaaahhh what kind of mother does that? My shíty parents did and now that I'm an adult they are trying to come be a parent now. That's not how that works. I grew up without them and I will continue to do so. You don't get to pick and choose when you get to parent. I will NEVER send my kids away and not fight for them back. Being with an abusive man is NO damn better.
So if she wants to petty herself than she can. She DOESN'T need someone to cry out for her. She did this to herself. That's her problem. I pray to God that she doesn't do this to her daughter and I hope that she raises her in an non-abusive environment.
You all got ur facts backwards but moving on ? I knew my comment would upset everyone and I did it on purpose. Do I regret it? Nope. I don't hate anyone but I don't have to approve how they are. Just like you are all doing with me. I'm not getting off this app, go report me enough so I'm gone. I didn't make this about me, you all did. I didn't abort neither did I abandon. And fyi you all who talk and know nothing of me don't even know I'm already married by court sooooooo I'm not out of wedlock. This is my last comment. Glad I ruined everyone's day. :) ( ps. Still not hating lol) I have no anger or saltiness in fact I'm sweet n sour) ?
@Lauren
Bullying? You mean telling her the truth? Dios didn't just give her opinion, she attacked and insulted all transgender/gay people. As someone whos brother is transgender I found her comments to be extremely rude. She compared them to pedofiles and my brother is far from it. She deserves all the backlash she got. If you can run your mouth and talk sh** you should also be able to take the responses you get from making ignorant comments.
@batty pretty much summed up what was said . The "pedophile" comment is what really set me off. Taking any conversation to that level is just atrocious. Having the nerve to compare or even basically say that the LGBTQ community are pedophiles made me sick to my stomach. Her saying that made her deserve any comment that came her way pretty much in my opinion.
Some of these comments are so harsh and hurtful. IMO I believe 5 is too young but that's just my opinion and also I have never been put into the position so therefore I know I can't say I will do this or that, that's just wrong you do not know what so ever until you are put into that position. I do know one thing I will always except my babies and love them with every ounce my heart could possibly hold and more! I do know this for a fact I birthed my babies and therefore I would never turn my back on them. However, I do hope I never have to experience this but things do happen that are out of your reach of controlling and I wouldn't want too loose my baby. I see that if some of these people on here children become transgender I do feel that they would loose their children because these comments are just harsh and like I said you don't know how you'll react but if you do react these way that have bee commented I feel so deeply for your children and hopefully they find love and compassion somewhere.
I'm sorry, but the people lashing out and bullying @dios are just being awful. I totally agree with the frustration you all share, but stop bullying people whose opinions/lifestyles you don't agree with.
Didn't we all just finish preaching *tolerance*? If you have to say something, at least take two seconds to make it constructive... or at least kind.
ETA: I should just take a break from this app ?

In order to really discuss this issue, take a look at the DSM 5 and other medical discussions of gender dysphoria. This isn't just a matter of boys wearing dresses and girls liking trucks. In order for a child to be labeled transgender, there needs to be full medical and psychological evaluations. These children have teams of professionals treating them and helping them determine the best course of action. There are major underlying mental health issues here. Depression, anxiety and self harm are common. Imagine what a 5 yr old has gone through to get the point where a team of doctors is recommending they dress and identify as the opposite gender in order to function in their lives.
If there are students in my child's class that have genuine issues for which their mental health requires they be addressed by the opposite gender then so be it. The school, teachers etc should be educated on the topic so that the child can learn with his or her peers. The students should be taught tolerance. The students (especially 5 year olds) do not need to be taught the specifics of gender identity disorders or anything specific about sexuality from the school. Imho that's up to the parents. But they should be instructed to call the student by whichever name and pronoun works for their treatment.
Compassion should rule here.
Whoa whoa how did this become something about religion?!?! I don't see dios's first comment!!! What the heck happened here?!!!
Wait what's the plan for her current baby? Is it going to be shipped off at birth or is it good enough for her to keep this time?
I hope you enjoy talking to your imaginary sky man dios. He's seemed to have helped you out so much already. I obviously don't believe but I'm pretty sure you can't pick and choose which sins to follow and which to judge others for. The bible is an outdated book that was somehow translated from dead languages. For all we know, "God" could have loved gay people and his words of wisdom have spread through the world in the wrong way. Just make sure your hands are squeaky clean before pointing those fingers at others.
I'm done.
I don't believe much ticks me off worse than to see a morally bankrupt person spouting hate at others over their lives. ?? seriously, the hypocrisy of it all and using a religion that you don't even truly follow (because if you really were a true follower you would know that you were meant to be christ-like and use no judgment or hypocrisy) in order to justify your hatred and judgement is just awful. Get your own house in order before you go trying to clean others. So to speak. Or better yet, just leave everyone else's houses the hell alone.
Maybe this is the place or time but @dios do you know the damage you're gonna cause to your kids? My parents didn't raise me. My grandparents did. I absolutely resent my parents for doing so. I will NEVER forgive my parents. They were NO WHERE to be found when I need them the most! Especially going into high school, I NEEDED my mom and dad! Because of them I suffer from depression and anxiety and at the age of 5 I was diagnosed with an impulsive disorder. All my HATE is towards them because they left me to do what they had to do and continued to have MORE kids (well at least my dad did).
I hope one day your kids will forgive you but I will never forgive my parents. It's so damn unfair to grow up without the parents that conceived you. Smh May God SERIOUSLY bless your kids and unborn child. Best of wishes to you.
@dios you should be the last person talking. If anyone needs the bible and god, ITS YOU. Instead of worrying about what others feel or want to be, worry about your children. I don't think theres anything worse then leaving your children over a man. Get off of bb, leave that abusive husband of yours and fight for your children. Come back again when you've fixed your own life instead of criticizing others. You also seem to talk alot about the bible. Heres a verse for you to think about.
Matthew 7:5
You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye.
I want to know where exactly in the bible it actually states being gay is bad. I want those words exactly, no b.s. translation from some irrelevant line in the bible. Because honestly I can ask my father, I can ask my aunt's whom were raised in a strict religious home, where it states it and they will tell me it wasn't stated directly with those words. They all love my transgender cousin for who HE is. The love my cousin and HER WIFE for who they are.
Using religion for your hate is childish, because if my family can look past the bible, the thing they were raised on and know front to back, then it's irrelevant in defending your hateful azz views.
We would cross that bridge if we ever came to it. I want my child to be who they feel they are, and regardless, I am going to be right here to guide her and support her. I want my child in my life. Too many times I've seen family turn their back on things they don't believe in like being gay, trans, in a bi-racial relationships, etc.
Wow, just wow ? I've viewed a few bothersome comments on this post, but for the most part there was nothing horrific posted until @dios joined in. I am absolutely appalled at your comments. And I have to agree with some of the other ladies, that the way that you are living and have lived your life is the direct opposite of how the Bible teaches you to live. Then you come on here spewing judgement and hatred toward others?? There is no small sin, if you are a Christian, and the way you have lived and are living I dare say would be very much considered quite sinful in the eyes of God. You have no right or no place to stand and spew judgement toward anyone, anyone at all. I don't usually even get involved in these heated topics because there really is no winning most of the time or no satisfaction from either side because most people are very set in their ways. But I just can't believe my eyes at the things that you are saying. And it is troublesome the way that your posts seem to have gone lately, I believe I am genuinely concerned for your psychological health considering the life that you are living. So there's that...
Oh my gosh @dios stfu!! Seriously I'm pretty sure God probably hates your ugly hate you show! No sin is bigger than the other so according to your thinking you're going to hell cause you judge and hate and you have sex out of marriage also had kids out of wedlock so please have a seat!
@dio your first comment infuriated me more than it should, but i'll look passed it because i know your reasoning for saying it was because you're simply just trying to stir the pot. like you ALWAYS do. if everyone on here is so terrible and you're miserable constantly being called out on the fact that you abandoned your children, then LEAVE THE APP. seriously, just delete it. you'll be so much happier. if you want to just ignore all of the shatty things you've done so the guilt can quit eating at you, then leave, and next time, don't share your personal life with strangers that dgaf if the truth hurts your feelings. but seriously, stop turning EVERY POST in r&r into some big, dramatic thing that eventually gets hijacked and turned into a topic about you. this thread was lengthy, but civil for the most part, until you popped in once again. give it a rest lady.
I have mixed feelings on this. On one hand, I like to consider myself to be pretty tolerant of others. I would never want to intentionally hurt anyone else and I accept a "live and let live" philosophy. I have a cousin who identifies as transgender, though she is a grown adult. I've also had a co-worker identify as transgender and our employer held a meeting to discuss proper pronouns and avoiding any workplace harassment.
But kids shouldn't have to worry about all of this. Kids should be kids. Why are 5 year olds having to conform to any gender? Just let them be whoever they are without focusing so much on labels. I can get not emphasizing gender so much, and not dividing boys and girls into different groups in school for educational activities. That's probably not a bad thing. But even encouraging a 5 year old who was born biologically male to dress and identify as female is still having them pigeonholing themselves into the stereotype of a gender identity. It's just a different one. I have a hard time thinking that every 5 year old knows enough about life to change their name and identity. I don't doubt that their parents have good intentions, but I think it's a complicated matter.
Not going to argue about religion with you, mostly because I flat out know more than you, and it's a moot point. But you asked a direct question, and I have a counterpoint.
Things God hasn't approved of in the bible: Internet and Cellphones (in fact the last time humanity had a unified language and communication method, he split us up with different languages).
Combined fabrics (banned in the Old Testament, never really given the explicit OK in the New Testament).
Divorce.
Having fields of multiple crops (same deal as fabrics)
In reading the bible, you cannot base it on what god has OKed, but rather what he denied.
All I know is that the revelations of the Bible are happening as we speak and God is coming for his people. Their names are written in the book of life. Not everyone will make it into the kingdom and I don't know if I will either. But God will judge us all individually and then you will know. If it feels wrong it's because it's wrong. I'm not a master at the Bible but I do know a couple things. Repent now before it's too late.
Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no,
his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me...
Science!
My friend posted this on facebook last night and said her kids were asleep within minutes. It's a song that scientists created to help people fall asleep. I was skeptical but I thought what the hay, I'll try it out. I didn't bank on Dh falling asleep, but both him and lo were asleep by minute 2. And lo slept six straight hours. ?

I'm bi and I have trans friends. Coming out for me was exceptionally hard bc I come from a strict religious family. My mom says I'm wrong and my dad says if I'm gay I'm not living with him so obviously bc of my situation and bc of who I am I'm a big supporter of loving yourself the way you are. However I think 5yr/old is a little young. I knew I liked girls at 10/11 but that's when I started feeling attraction I was more focused on friendships before that I had no interest in anyone. Being Trans is different tho bc that's a part of who you are so idk how that works. Honestly even being bi I would encourage my kids to wait till they were older to start identifying different bc I don't think 5yr olds understand that. I'd say prob 10 since that's when I knew. Then they can do what they want and if they wanted to transition I'd make them wait till HS. That's what my friends mom did and it worked well for him. I'd also have my kids talking to an unbiased therapist so they understand their own feelings. Figuring out who you are is hard enough and when you're a part of the LGBTQ+ community it's so much harder. A 5 yr old shouldn't have that responsibility. I'm almost 18 and I get hate all the time, a kid doesn't know what he's in for. Let him understand it and accept it when he's old enough to. Just my opinion
