Racist A**hole!
I just hung up on someone at work (one of our customers) for using the N word. I don't understand what's wrong with people. We're on the phone, he can't see me, he doesn't know what color I am. Regardless of that its just so unacceptable to speak that way. My blood is boiling. I told him I would not tolerate that language and was not going to continue the conversation with him and hung up. He's lucky I told him that much. I just wanted to be clear I was hanging up on him so he didn't think we were cut off and dial back.

ah, leave it to Cohen lol...
you sound like a complete and utter bigot. and a lazy one at that. if you had even a shred of decency or compassion, you would just transfer them to someone who spoke Spanish.

Maribeth, hollerrr! That's what I'm talking about. Humanity!
deleted-user·
Been there. When people meet me I think they assume my husband is white, and I've been places and people have said crrrrrazy stuff about Mexicans and I lose my s*** and they're stunned every time and it really satisfies me lol.

I use to work for a call center and was amazed of the amount of racism calls I had to deal with

Preeeeeeeach maribetho

I would lose my job if I ever hung up on a person just because they speak spanish and I don't.
But our agency is in the business of helping people, even if they speak spanish.
deleted-user·
I work in a call center so I totally get this. I have a lot of people say that because I'm white I don't know how it feels to be behind on a bill. -__-
I DO speak Spanish but I don't get paid for at work so I simply ask them to wait and get them to the Spanish queue.
deleted-user·
Cohen since when does speaking Spanish make a person ignorant?? You're the only close mind ignorant here
deleted-user·
@Puggly, Ive seen her comments in the past as well... smh.
deleted-user·
I look white. But I'm half Mexican. my dad came from Mexico. People don't believe me. I used to go to a predominately Mexican school and people who call me rude names in Spanish, and I of course understood them. So I would fire back in Spanish and shut them up.
Cohen- how is it ignorance when people need a Spanish speaking receptionist. It's not that hard to put them on hold and find someone they can speak with. This isn't the first (and I doubt the last) time I've seen racist comments about Mexicans from you. You're the one who is pretty damn ignorant.
deleted-user·
I'm sure Cohen is a lovely woman but she is racist. Ive decided. "I don't have time for ignorance." Seems like the ignorant one might be you Cohen. So rude! I can understand your frustration but just because someone doesn't speak the language you do doesn't make it acceptable to treat them like the scum on your shoe.
deleted-user·
Cohen....so what should the spanish speaking person say so that you will put the translator on? Maybe I don't have enough info but it seems to me they kept going on in hopes you're able to pass the phone to someone wo can help them.
Where I work when this happens I use the little spanish I know to say momento (sp?) and I get someone who can help the spanish speaking person. Why can't you do that?
deleted-user·
I meant is Brown, I didn't MJ myself.
deleted-user·
I'm black and people are racist or disrespectful to me 80% of the time, OR just rude. I use to live in town where my family was the only blacks. And now because my SO is white.
I use to get mad, and then hurt that someone would judge me or hate me just because my skin was brown or because they don't understand love is love.
Now I don't get upset as much, I just realized that some people are going to be ignorant no matter what I say or how hurt I get. If someone use the N word I will stand up for myself and walk away. I'm a amazing, kind hearted person and if my skin color stop you from finding that out your lost.
Now in your case you can only ignore it. People can be so ignorant. I can't believe it still exist.
deleted-user·
I do think that word is completely un called for.
However when I used to be a receptionist I've hung up on people who answer the phone in spanish, ask me habla espanol, I say no and they keep going on in Spanish as if assuming I know wtf they're saying. Sure there were people there who did speak Spanish but I have no time for ignorance.
deleted-user·
I had to do that quite a few times when I was a collections advisor. In my line of work when people didn't pay their bills and their phone was cut off they used to take it out on us.....pay your bill and you don't have to talk to me!
deleted-user·
People normally only say those things to my face I'm very proper over the phone. It's nice that you were able to hold your tongue my favorite is "go back to Africa" lol I would love to but I've been here my whole life darn ?
deleted-user·
That's messed up at least u can hang up on him when I worked as a telemarketer we couldn't hang up on them no matter what we had to try and calm them down and give them some # before we could hang up and some people r just cruel sorry u had to deal with that
deleted-user·
What is wrong with people? I had a situation with my husbands cousin and had to kick him out of my house for speaking that way (hubs totally backed me up) I was so pissed that he would speak that way in my home, in front of his kids too(his wife is a teacher, she was there). You can speak anyway you like in front of your kids but the second you are in my house my rules apply. This behavior is totally unacceptable to me. We haven't had any problems since.
deleted-user·
ok sorry this is so not on topic but what happened on tuesday???? i never saw an update
LaLa G·
I'm a claims adjuster. He was going off about putting used parts on his car, said he didn't want junk on it, didn't want it "n_____ ready".
I am white. But that doesn't make it ok to say that to me. My husband is black and my daughter is mixed. Even if that weren't the case I would be furious. It's unacceptable.
Sadly this is not the first racist I've hung up on. At least management completely backs us up that if someone is using abusive language that is how we handle it. It's just so infuriating.
Oh and he's our policy holder and I'm handling his claim so I will more than likely have to talk to him again.
deleted-user·
Kinda like the Internet eh? Ppl somehow have bigger balls and assume they can't speak to you any way they want when you're not in their face, hmmmm...
deleted-user·
My best friend is black and she was trying to back out of a parking spot and some dude was standing in her way and she asked him politely if he would mind moving. To which he replied "I don't move for n****ers." I wasn't there but I wanted to drive down and run him over!
deleted-user·
what do you do?
and in what context? I'm just curious because I'm a little baffled that someone would be that much of an idiot. I know ppl assume I'm white 99% of the time, over the phone... glad nothing like that has ever happened to me lol...
only to my face :-/
deleted-user·
Wow, I'd be mad to . Hopefully you won't hear back from that ignorant ass hat
