What are your thoughts on a preemie (33 weeks) being around people/visitors once he/she is discharged from the hospital? My bf and I are arguing about it because I don’t think she should be surrounded by people once she’s discharged since she was 7 weeks early and still very small. I also cant handle the stress of everyone nagging us to come see her if they can’t understand that she’s premature and needs to get stronger and bigger

You do what YOU think is right. I do agree with you though. My son was 37 weeks, and I still didn’t let many people around him. Honestly, they didn’t need to be around him.

I don’t have experience with a preemie but even when my full term baby was born I was overwhelmed with visitors.. always having to tidy up the house and look presentable while trying to care for this newborn. Add in cold/flu season and being a preemie I personally would say sorry everyone but you have to wait. Go with your gut, mom does always know best!

Her immune system isn’t great yet, and with flu season what it is this year, I wouldn’t risk it. I’d personally limit it to our parents and siblings if possible

My son was born at 34 weeks. He was in the nicu for a week. My mom, my 2 brothers, my stepdad, my sons dad and his mom and brother seen my son. But once he was discharged I kept my son in my room almost all the time. I didn't let nobody take him out of the room from me. But also didn't have visitors lol. Just immediate family

My son never got sick from any of them though. He was born in flu season too. Feb 15th. I made everyone wash their hands always and wouldn't let nobody kiss on him.

They need to keep they distance until the baby is at least 8 weeks. The baby should just be within your home for the most part until they get those 8 week immunizations

My daughter was born at 37 weeks and is 2 months now... I still don't let a lot of people around her nor take her out. The flu has me all paranoid. Trust your mommy instincts. My daughter got sick with a cold and she was hospitalized for 3 days.
