A tattoo being “nowhere near your belly” has absolutely nothing to do with it. The ink from a tattoo is treated as an infection. Your body goes into hyper mode trying to fight it off. When you’re pregnant, your body is ALREADY in hyper drive you know, trying to grow an eyeball. Plus, if it does happen to get infected, it will go into the bloodstream, thus affecting your baby. It doesn’t matter how small it is. A respectable tattoo artist would never risk his license to put fresh ink on a pregnant lady. Hell, my artist didn’t even want to microblade my eyebrows until I was done breastfeeding. Educate yourself. Educate your friend. And next time, do it before you make a post trying to get an app full of pregnant ladies and moms to agree with you.

I got my tattoo while pregnant had no idea I was even pregnant at the time no symptoms I was on depo shot so I didn’t think anything of it that I was pregnant I don’t have sickness and I don’t have a period with depo so I was clueless. If I knew I was pregnant I wouldn’t of got the tattoo. I don’t think you should get tattoos while pregnant. Yes I got my tattoo but I HAD NO IDEA I WAS PREGNANT . I took a test like 3 weeks after my tat and it was positive I felt horrible.

Not condoning to choice to get tattooed while pregnant but I doubt CPS would get involved and “take her baby away”.

@ironbutterfly, completely understand most think the same. I just wanted to how awful people are with the choice of comments they make. It can really affect a person in many ways. And yes usually the older you get the more you learn but sometimes it makes people ignorant and playing the blame game on younger people isn’t the way to go.

@xomarylee, I don’t drink to begin with, so I don’t drink and drive. It’s illegal also. My daughter is extended rearfacing at the moment for her safety in a motor vehicle. We don’t take our dog to the park, our yard is plenty big for her to get exercise. Never left my daughter with someone who wasn’t my mother or MIL. Never smoked weed a day in my life. My 2 year old would never sit with me in the front seat while the vehicle is in motion. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Well they say it can cause infection and that's putting your baby at risk .or the fact that your basically injected with ink. And that gets into your body and then into your baby.

My tattoo shop is my source. I think they'd know the laws regarding their profession.

I thought tattoo shops dont tattoo pregnant women. At least thats what an artist told me . due to the risk of infections etc. I wouldn't bash her but personally I think she should had waited until after. I always wait until after as a treat to myself . including getting any piercings.

@xomarylee All though I find your friend's lack of patients, incredibly irritating. I must admit that I went to search it and I did not find anything about it being illegal nor. I did find all the risks and how doctors advise against it. I am very cautious with my pregnancy and children and would not risk anything no matter how good and clean the tattoo artist is. Hormones in pregnancy can do a lot to your body. Just giving my opinion.

However, I will look into its legal issues after I am done getting dressed.

My boyfriend is a professional tattoo artist, it is illegal and can do a lot of damage to an unborn child if an infection were to occur and it doesn't matter how many tattoos she had gotten safely, there's still a chance, especially with her immune system being not as strong during pregnancy.

There’s not enough research and studies done to safely say that getting tattooed while pregnant won’t harm the baby. If there was, it would be a different story. Anytime it is a controversial topic, backlash is to be expected.

Hair dye and the faint smell of Acetone and nail polish are 100% different than a hundred tiny needles drilling ink into your skin. I have tons of tattoos but the thought never even crossed my mind to get more until I gave birth. It’s just common sense. If there is even the slightest chance of harming your child, why the fuck would you want to risk it anyway? It’s just selfish.

His been doing it for years!! Cops come in a out and nothing happens if it was a big deal things would of gone wrong before. The mom got it done it healed perfectly!! I am pro tattoo because I myself have many, but I would never risk my child’s life because I couldn’t wait. Whether it be a dot or a 4 hour piece. To mostly everyone commenting he is one of best tattoo artist in Cleveland and Columbus he won’t put her in any harm. If it was that much of a big deal he would had done it !! I’ve knows him since I was born really. 2 great shops and amazing staff. The point of the status was SHE IS GETTING HATE COMMENTS AND THEY DONT GIVE A FUCK ABOUT HOW THEY SPEAK TO HER!! I got a tattoo while pregnant with my second, didn’t know at the time but I don’t see the huge deal as long as your going to a reputable artist the chances of infection are slim to none, IMO less dangerous then eating a cold cut sandwich.

I was four months pp. Not only will tattoo shops deny doing it while you're pregnant but you're at a much higher risk of getting an infection and hurting the baby. I don't believe for a second that your friend couldn't wait a few months before getting ink done. It was irresponsible af

@tiffanyf, she gets tattoos be the same guy in the same shop I spend usually all my afternoons with. 25-30 tattoos later she has never got an infection. Even when it’s tiny there’s always aftercare and that why people get infections .. because thy don’t follow rules or go to the wrong person. She shouldn’t be getting all the hate comment period. She is a great person and will be a great mom.
