I took a narcotic first to relieve my contractions but it only lasted for like 30mins then contractions were pretty strong and I got epidural I didn't feel the needle going into my spine nothing I noticed it because i didn't feel my contractions anymore then 40mins lated I was pushing my baby out, it went pretty smooth.

IVs hurt more than epidurals. You have to stay extremely still(if you don't they can mess up and this is where all the back problems you hear about come in) they have you bend forward a bit so your spine pops out they numb you up then they stick the epidural in. It'll feel like you're getting a regular shot but in your back. My nurse also talked to me during the process that really helped me to keep still and not worry about how it would feel

I watched a YouTube video of an epidural and it really helped me better understand the process.

I honestly think I would’ve passed out from the pain if I didn’t get mine, it was a life saver. And it was a very simple and quick procedure. They even had my bf hold me straight up and took pictures for me when he was done doing the epidural. I would definitely recommend getting one.

You’ll be in so much pain that you won’t even feel it. 😂

I hated getting it but I can't imagine the pain I would've been in had I not. They numbed the area but I could still feel the pressure of it all, and just the whole idea of it freaked me out. Chris wasn't allowed in the room while it was being administered. But I'd do it again.

It was honestly painless your contractions will hurt more. They clean and shave your back, put a protective plastic covering. Put the needle into your back and downward, take the needle out leaving a catheter it no longer goes into your spine, just close to it, they tape it down and you're in heaven. To remove it they just take the catheter out of your back.

First they prep your back by cleaning it and sterilize everything. There is 2 needles. First one is a numbing solution they first put it. It burns like a be sting! Then they do the epidural. You dont feel pain, but like a pressure. Then youll feel a pop (or more). Then all done! I was a HUGE baby with needles, but it actually wasnt bad. Better than a IV!

- No.. it’s a needle into your spine. And it’ll be your best friend!
