Those who have the Mirena iud can I please hear your experience? I’m getting it on Wednesday and I’m pretty nervous
@hakunamafuckitall, oh wow that’s so crazy. What are you on now?
I had it two yrs the wires got wrapped around my uterus and I had to get it out
@llcoolkay, na I can’t figure all that out I know I’d get pregnant I never have a normal period
@kush_queen420, yeah I can’t do the pill either. I’ll probably end up saying fuck it and get my tubes tied
Love it. No issues. No complaints. I personally get a light period still which I would rather have then none! Have It for almost a year now. The insertion seemed like it took foreeeever but the doctor said it just depends on the shape of the uterus. Guess mine is weird lol. It probably only took like 15 mins. It took me years to get the iud cause of the pain I heard from insertion, but I’m glad I went through with it.
I’ve never wanted to get an iud because of all the horror stories I’ve read but my ob said she really thinks it’s be a good option for me. I hope it is lol
I got it 6 weeks postpartum and have had 0 issues. I was super nervous about the insertion but it was literally over before I knew it. My midwife told me to wiggle my toes so I would distract myself from the sensation in my cervix lol I cramped and spotted mildly for two days. No period yet but I am breastfeeding. I check the placement monthly. I’m happy with it
I’m glad someone has had a good experience with it lol I was actually just doing some research on it and read an article saying that it’s been linked to pseudotumor cerebri. I was diagnosed with it a couple of years ago so I’m wondering if it’ll make my symptoms worse
@llcoolkay, wow I had never heard of that. Is it linked to the hormones? Maybe the Paragard would be a better option?
@flamingomom, I do think it is linked to the hormones because the depo shot is also linked to it. I emailed my ob to see if it’s still a good fit for me. She’s having me checked for pcos so I think that’s why she recommended the mirena.
This probably isn’t going to help but I had an awful experience with mine. I gained double my weight and I had major mood swings. I was always angry or really sad and it didn’t help I already had ppd so everything was just intense. I never had a period though that’s really the only plus and didn’t get pregnant
@llcoolkay, Mirena is hormonal and you don’t get a period and paragaurd is non hormonal and a copper iud and you get regular periods
@keeks89, hmm okay! I’ll definitely talk to her about it. She’s also testing me for pcos so I think that’s why she recommended the mirena but I could be wrong
@llcoolkay & I’m with @keeks89
For me, the experience was sh!t getting it inserted because my cervix is is tilted, so that caused some discomfort, but I got the Paragard because hormones fuck you up 🤷🏽♀️ Sorry, personal opinion. & with the Paragard, I had it for 5 years before it was dislodged causing major discomfort and illness. I had it removed Nov 2017 and was pregnant before the end of the year.
I never got it because my sister had so many complications. She finally removed it after it had slipped and she was bleeding internally with no idea. My other sister found her blue on the floor and called an ambulance. I’ll never get one because of that
I bled for almost two years and ended up getting pregnant while I was on it
Oh Jesus Christ lol I’m probably better off getting my tubes tied
@llcoolkay, i want to get mine tied I regret not getting them when I had my daughter I’m just really scared of all the side effects I’m such a 🐱🤣
@littlemedranos, I know I should have done it after I had my son but I wasn’t sure I was done having kids but I know I am for sure done know. I’m also scared of the side effects
Hated it!! I bled randomly the first 6 months, then all together wasn’t getting periods. Then I made an appointment to get it taken out the dr went to go find the string and it was corralled up around the mirena so I would of had to get it taken out no matter what. I never had trouble conceiving my first either then once I got the mirena then taken out all of a sudden I wasn’t able to conceive naturally it’s like it messed my body up completely. I would never get it again!
Ahhhh. That makes me super nervous. I do not want anymore kids so the part of it making it hard to get pregnant after it’s out doesn’t bother me. The doctor told me I’d have some irregular bleeding for the first few months and my period might go away
