@momofroyalty2 If you don't have any idea what job you want I would start looking into the different fields. If you can narrow down a field you're interested in it will help you create a list of potential jobs. Another thing! If they offer you let's says 3 jobs and you don't like any of them, don't settle! Tell them you're not interested in any of those. You may have to wait longer to go, but I'd rather wait and have a MOS I like than sign quick just to get in. Don't listen to them if they say you can sign a contract and then switch jobs later.

@emily526, omg thanks for telling me that it makes so much sense bc a recruiter won't tell you that ya know , and I of course don't wanna be blind I wanna know exactly what I'm getting myself into

@momofroyalty2 It's good to have at least some idea before going in. Another thing, some jobs they give a really cool name it sounds interesting in the description etc. but it sometimes is just disguising a really lame job. You don't want to accidentally sign to be a glorified janitor because you were fooled by a name. Typically they also will offer big bonuses for jobs no one wants so if you see that I wouldn't be easily swayed by the money.

@momofroyalty2 I'm so happy I got exactly what I wanted! You'll know when you hear it, but I was so anxious I did all my research first so I knew what I wanted going in.

@momofroyalty2 I didn't have to take the pica. But when I went to MEPS I took the ASVAB, then got my physical done (which takes the longest), chose my MOS and signed my contract, and then was sworn in.

@emily526, I haven't been to meps yet but I have took the asvab and then she recommended I take the pica too

@momofroyalty2 Girl I got you! I've have made myself an expert. I have really bad anxiety so I made sure I knew exactly what to expect before I go. Every base is a little different I'm sure, but I know all about my husband's experience and I know the MEPS process from my own experience.

@emily526, I go to meps next week so my recruiter said after that I'll leave within the 3 weeks after , she was working on another girl before me so she wanted to get her squared away

@momofroyalty2 My husband is Army Reserves and I'm going Active so he's a little jealous because he wanted to go Active. I'm like TOO BAD I beat you to it 😂

@emily526, yea I've waited for about 3 years to go bc I had my two kids back to back but my husband is a marine core vet so of course he's supporting me but also being inconsiderate in the same breath because I have been waiting so long to go

@momofroyalty2 I've waited over 2 years to get my leave date because I had to wait for my husband to finish BCT and AIT and then I got pregnant and had to wait through that.

@emily526, right lol that's what I told my husband like no boy leave it alone before I stop fooling with you I'm not gonna go thru basic training feeling all sick when it's going to already be hard as it is
