Read such a sad story of a ladies baby dying from dehydration. The hospital she was at kept pushing breast feeding on her and would not allow a formula substitute and it ended up killing the baby 😩😩
When Kendrick was born i could not for the life of me get him to latch, or be even close to my nipple. I fed him drops of hand expressed colostrum and bottles of formula. Once we got breastfeeding down I stopped the formula and we haven't gone back. I breast feed because my body allows it and it's free.
I understand the health benefits and the huge argumentative divide between breastfeeding and formula feeding. But this poor baby died because a mom was told "oh just keep getting him to latch, you'll be ok" instead of a "professional" actually noticing the baby wasn't getting milk and offering the mom and alternative.
Lord, I couldn't imagine. Being a new mom and trusting the people around you because you didn't know any better.

Right! If you've never really been around a baby you'd have no idea what's normal or not, and her baby just starved in front of her because she wasn't producing milk but everyone told her it was normal. I just couldn't even imagine @asunaking15

I'm so sorry this happened to her@jsco this brings backs memories from when my cousin lost her baby due to people telling her it was okay to do something that was not okay for an infant but being a first time mom she didn't kmow

The lactation consultant at the hospital when I gave birth was so pushy I can understand why people just do what they're told. I was like.. "he's not eating, I'm going to make sure there is food in his belly regardless of where it comes from" and she was like 😑 and shut up. @beebaby

I read that story too. It's crazy that she didn't ask and nobody said anything about a newborn crying ALL the time! It's so sad!! but the nurses/drs failed her

Seriously! You would think someone would have said something. Even the lactation consultant said she was fine because he was latching. I guess if you weren't used to being around kids you'd think it was normal for a baby to cry all the time. The whole story is just insane @nowmrspost
