how am I supposed to be able to be happy and actually enjoy having my step kid around when he refuses to eat anything I cook (I'm not a bad cook) he would rather eat a can of chef boyrd then a home cooked meal when he is here. he refuses to listen to anything I say. and I'm the bad guy when I mention that he needs to be in trouble for not eating dinner. saying I put too much on his plate the kid is 5 I put more on my friends 4 year Olds plate when I babysit sit him. I am about to walk away cuz idk how to deal with this kid and it keeps starting fights. im one week away from habing my first child but i have been around kids my whole life. i know a spoiled brat when i see one. this kids mother doesnt have rules and if she does she doesnt enforce them. i just need help figuring out how to deal with this before i walk away for good... :-/

@ashthomaswilliams2016 i dont call him spoiled just cuz.of his eating habits its more of that he will sit there and cry for hours if his father doesnt spend every second of the day with the kid. and he.does get home cooked meals at his mothers house. and he eats them just fine there.

@beebaby, is right start him off with small portions then give him more if he wants it. And also it's what you cook or nothing but dad has to back you up. If their is a division the kids know and they will use it to their advantage

I am a step mom to three and it's very hard. Especially when the two don't co parent together. She's lacks responsibility for them or don't give them rules. It's just difficult no other way to explain it I just gave up.

well if the mother doesn't enforce rules its not the childs fault. first you have to talk with dad and set rules and have a schedule. a lot of 5 yr olds are like that calling him a spoiled brat isn't going to solve that issue. my 6 yr old and 4 yr old do the same thing sometimes and i do have rules i tell them they have to try at least a bite or two before they can say they don't like it. and that would just tell me his mom doesn't cook food. just warms stuff up. but I'd be upset if my SO called my children brats for their eating habits

Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no, his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me and did something else with an other girl.... and it's 10:51 am now and he hasn't texted me at all. and after he dropped me off I texted him saying what I felt and nothing. I don't know if I'm over reacting or what or what should i do. do i wait until he text me?

do you... Clean up after your SO is done cooking? Or vice versa? DF was cooking and while he was cooking I unloaded the dish washer and hand washed the pot he had used and put dishes in the dish washer, so by the time he got his plate, dishes were done and left overs were in Tupperware on the counter just in case anyone wanted seconds and counters were wiped down. The room mate asked me why I do that, and I just say that's how I was raised. I always clean up after anyone cooks in the house, even after myself. I clean as I cook, so DF doesn't clean up because it's done before dinner is finished lol. But there's rare occasions where he'd be in the kitchen while I cook so he does help out with the cleaning since i cook during the day sometimes so we can heat it up when it's dinner time. I want everyone to get their first and seconds before I eat. My mom has taught me to always clean up after your spouse makes dinner, it's only fair. They put their effort into cooking, you should always help them out.
