Question in something that has nothing to do with mom stuff.
I moved to PA and my dad gave me his old car. The car is still in his name and under his insurance. We kind of want to keep it that way because basically since he's older with a better driving history his insurance is cheaper. Since he lives in NJ and the car is still registered to him so technically he's still the owner would it be ok to drive his car with NJ plates in a different state?
No maybe your licenses ( but you need to change those too ) mail from your previous address , your insurance card ect you can call the Dmv and they can tell you what is acceptable.
@jjepb, is there anything I should carry around so if I'm pulled over I can show the cop that I'm still in the time frame
If his insurance is a bigger brand you maybe able to get added to his insurance if the will pick up both states @ceeasquared it may help lower the bill
@landonsmommy01, @jjepb That sucks. We thought that since the car was legally still in his name it would have to legally be registered to where he lives since his name is the one on the title and he lives in NJ. In PA it's 60 days so I still have about 2 months to get my ins money together
@ceeasquared, look up state laws but in most states you have 30-90 days to change the tags over to the new address. This includes insurances as well if it's not changed where the car is located they may not pay if you have an accident.
No.. I tried doing that and I got pulled over when I was 17 with my moms car. You have 30 days to get the license changed to the state your living in now. That's what the cop told me and than I looked it up online and he was of course right lol
Hello ladies
Does someone here know about car insurance in case I’ve damaged someone’s car? It’s a scratch and the paint needs to be painted again. Does it effect my no claim bonus? I’ve had no claim bonus for nearly two years. I passed my driving test 8 months ago
Is someone being sued something I can look up? Like public records?
Stepson hit a parked cop car, driving with no auto insurance. He says they’ve sued for $20,000 and he’s lost his license. Would they have arrested him?
Omg omg I swear i really need to slap some sense into my daughter!!
She wants to get a car. The problem with that is she has no credit (and no DL). So she thinks that she and her boyfriend should get a car together.🤔🤔🤔
So we told her that the car is going to be in his name because she has no credit.
But let's just say "they" get the car
The insurance is going to be sky high in her name because she's only 20. (She says the insurance can be in his name)
She's going to need a down payment( she t...
I feel so much better since I egged his car.
How in the hell does our society expect a single person to survive on one income? I’m not even going to think about adding kids into the equation... $500 car note $200 car insurance $200 power bill $80 water $40 gas and then money for rent/morgage food and gas for your car.... and to think some people drive past a homeless person and look down on them...
Yeah sorry for the late response. Yeah just make sure you have your registration. Most cops will understand that it's his car and your the one trying it. When I talked to the officer he understood
