She wants to get a car. The problem with that is she has no credit (and no DL). So she thinks that she and her boyfriend should get a car together.🤔🤔🤔
So we told her that the car is going to be in his name because she has no credit.
But let's just say "they" get the car
The insurance is going to be sky high in her name because she's only 20. (She says the insurance can be in his name)
She's going to need a down payment( she thinks she won't)
The car "they" want is $500 a month . ( she said they can split it)
Again, she doesn't have a DL
And what if he takes the car or decides not to pay.
So when we brought all these concerns up she says well its going to be my car. And if he gets mad he's leaving the car with me.
Basically he's using her to help pay for the car 🤦🤦🤦

Sadly Here in texas u can buy a car without a license thats how sadly my immigrant husband did it and the insurance to they let us get insurance without a license
So I was 19 with no credit and no down payment when I got my first brand new off the lot car. I had what they called "virgin" credit. My insurance was only 68 a month but I had also taken a driver saftey course and had my license for 3 years prior.
So the down payment is here nor there. But actually getting a car and car insurance is the issue as here in NY you cant buy a new car or get car insurance without a dl
You definitely can’t buy a car without a valid driver license and car insurance either. I k ow this because I am 40 yrs old and my nephew works in a car dealership so I hear stories all the time of people w even a suspended license trying to buy a car ,yeah not happening
I don’t think you can buy a car without a driver license maybe it varies state by state buy my fiancé and I bought a car last year and they asked for both of our drivers license.
I believe the car dealership wanted my drivers license number when I bought my van. The insurance company definitely wanted it before they would insure me.
She probably can’t even get insurance with no license. Most likely she won’t be able to get any financing with no credit or down payment so hopefully the problem will take care of itself when she sees all of this actually happen.
Tell her by law if you caught driving without a license you can get arrested “does she have a driving permit? She should not sign her name on anything if she has no job,no license ! To help her man pay this car ,should be a notary or something saying they’ll split it because,exactly what u mentioned if he stops paying they will still OWE on the car if he trying to use her as a co-signer she’ll be 💯 percent responsible
I drove till I was 28 without a drivers license 🤣😪 not saying it’s a good idea , but maybe start by raising money to actually buy a car instead of making payments and help her go get a license. And make sure it’s in her name lol

Please please please intervine. Offer to help her get a car of her own after she gets her license (used, cheap even 😉) That does not sound like a good idea and the making of a huge lesson to learn. (Not being offensive) but if she's thinking like that at 20, the car is just the start 😩. I'm saying this as a 26 year old who had my daughter and all responsibilities at 20.
