How in the hell does our society expect a single person to survive on one income? I’m not even going to think about adding kids into the equation... $500 car note $200 car insurance $200 power bill $80 water $40 gas and then money for rent/morgage food and gas for your car.... and to think some people drive past a homeless person and look down on them...
- I don’t agree that college is necessary. @itty_bitty, I don’t use either of my degrees. A vocation would work. Don’t judge. Glad you’re doing good. 👌🏻
@itty_bitty now that's a lie, Im going to school for nursing and my hubs that only have a H.S diploma makes that same as someone with a masters, working in the warehouse Industry
I’m a family of five that lives off of one income. I totally know how you feel. Likely at my car no it’s only $400 a month but still it that takes a chunk out of our monthly cash flow.
@mommynmotion your not alone I've definitely made the same mistake. My first car got repoed, I bought my brothers older paid off car but it needed a ton of repairs and I was done with it once I realized I was pregnant (breaks were horrible and I didn't want to take a chance with the winter)..ended up going to a dealership and SURPRISINGLY was approved for a car even after my first car got repoed and after being evicted ..(I didn't do research or search for a cheaper car .I just took what they said was available because I thought that's all I could get with my bad credit..but my dumb self should've realized a 2012 fresh Malibu should've been a sign to not get it because I really couldn't afford it. Then that car got repoed weeks before I was about to give birth. Just a hot mess but I was irresponsible and definitely trying to do better.. I've lost too much to.
@its.a.bird, my credit and driving history is shit😞 I’ve owned every other car before this one bc I was stupid I wanted a new car bc I was tired of having to repair my old junkers huge mistake
Well a lot of people live beyond their means. Also, just because you have a job doesn’t mean you can’t keep looking for better. Or move up where you are.
@danyellehouse56, I recommend making a post on fb and cl my Facebook area has pages for babysitters and nannies and interview them check their history call references etc and install live footage cameras in your home if possible that’s how I got my babysitter lol
@beccaaalynnn11, omg we have all hardwood and a downstairs basement/garage😑 I seriously love the colder seasons though so it’s totally worth it😍 I can’t wait for the holidays!
Live within your means for sure, budget, sacrifice, try hard to cut costs wherever possible and don’t compare your life and your circumstances to others or let people get to you when they compare. We’re all different, come from different places, live different lives. Just because one person or one family has it together don’t think there’s something wrong with you if you don’t yet. You’ll get there.
@mommynmotion well that's comforting to know..I'm glad you'll have your kids with someone your comfortable with😊 I totally wish that I knew someone here in Indy.
- Hey it works! 😅 mine goes from like $80 to $500 lol especially since I have leather couches. In California leather couches worked. Texas, not so much 😅
@beccaaalynnn11, girl I’m to the point that ima be using the fire place🤣
I should also say we're a family of 5 soon to be 6 living off one income. We've always stayed within our means and it really helps. We don't have a fancy car or fancy things. We make sacrifices so we can afford the way we live. We don't get any government help either. It can be done if you stick to a budget and cut out unnecessary spending!
- Bet you’re ready for cold weather! My electric note is easily several hundred dollars more than it is during colder months 😅
@danyellehouse56, I’m using a babysitter unfortunately😞 I’ll be in school and have my part time job it’s only like 3 days a week I do know here though and she is great with kids

@mommynmotion You don't need good parents to recognize a value in education. But I understand the feeling as though you're not smart enough for school, I don't have learning disabilities, but I did possess a lot of self doubt. I went to community college to save money and got my AS degree. After that I got my BA online because I was working full-time and I couldn't afford to go back and fourth to the campus. Now I'm going to get my masters and I'll be doing a lot of that online too because I'm a mother. It can be done while being a parent and while working, etc. It's not easy, but definitely something that can be done. I don't think we should judge anyone by their decisions or circumstances in life. I do believe however that everyone struggles in their own way and life is hard on us all, not just those with obvious misfortunes.
@mrschanandlerbong95, omg that’s awesome that y’all are making that work!!! That’s hard a lot of people don’t want to give up on frivolous spending that’s some great self control!
@honeyxxbee, that’s so smart!!! I didn’t think to do that! My credit is awful that’s why it’s high and this is my first time leasing I am going to tlook into that
@bcolombatto, also it’s higher if you aren’t 25 in Alabama
@bcolombatto, 2 wrecks on my record 🤦🏽♀️
@mommynmotion do you guys plan on getting a babysitter or will he be working and watching your kids? I'm so not ready for a babysitter that's why I'm asking.
@itty_bitty, my credit is not too wonderful I guess that’s why it’s so high... but yeah I have heard it’s so much more expensive there but I’m sure the jobs have increased pay to make up for that. Is that were you grew up or did you choose to live there?my sister said in Oregon to work at the dollar tree they pay you $14! That’s a lot compared to down here it use to be $7.50 but a lot of places have changed it to the very least $9.
@emily526, well I personally wasn’t blessed with parents that helped me know the value in school and I have learning disabilities so I just assumed I was to dumb for school also I didn’t have the option to stay at home at go to college or live on campus etc but I am going in September only bc my boyfriend is letting me take off work and focus only on school and the kids I just heard someone call a homeless person something so nasty and I’m just like hell this life can be hard you shouldn’t judge them plus a lot of them have disabilities anyway.
If you live within your means then it's possible. If you cant afford a high car payment, dont buy an expensive car. Also with car insurance the newer the car you buy and the more expensive it is, the higher your insurance payment will be.
We’re a family of 4, soon to be 6, that lives off one income. We are very strict with our budgeting, and because neither of us have parents that we can go to if needed we’ve made always been very conscious of how we deal with our finances and credit.
That’s super high for car insurance! Eek!
Definitely having a career vs. a job helps and I agree with @itty_bitty education plays a role as well. I could survive just fine (financially) without my husband, but he would be in a horrible place (again, financially) without me. The only difference between us is education.
That’s a very high car payment. What did you put down and what’s your interest rate?
@itty_bitty, oh good add a couple more hundreds for tuition on top of all the other expenses
Strange question,
What kind of car do you have ??
who knows their cars? I am thinking about getting a car but I don’t want a huge car or a truck just something simple and that will get me from a to B. Low maintenance? Isn’t a gas guzzler ?
When gas is $5.89 $10 is not gas money.!!! My car doesn’t move for anything less that $20 unless your my father 🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️ I hate entitled people.
When you get blocked cause you correct a person 😂😂 idk ladies but I think she’s a liar 🤥
So I just saw a post and someone asked if they have to pump gas do they leave their kids in the car or not. Everyone said they take them in the gas station. Someone lying.... I have one kid and dont feel like doing that let alone 2 or 3 kids.I don't see the big deal honestly. If the line extremely long then ok. But literally you're away from the car like 1 min. Now if you going inside of Walmart or even Walgreens then hell no.. He coming but the gas station.. Really...
What’s your take on vaccinations? Some people think they do more harm to the baby than good .. personally I don’t know , but I would love some insight.
@itty_bitty, oh good add a couple more hundreds for tuition on top of all the other expenses
