I'm on maternity leave and really struggling with the pay specially since I pay full rent and left with next to nothing once all my bills are paid. My son was 8 weeks Sunday past. How long before any mums went back to work and how did you feel about leaving them so early? I just feel like I have no other option than to go back to work 😔

Yeah I'm getting maternity from my work but its pennies and does it not reduce after a certain time as well? I don't need to pay for childcare cause I'm lucky enough to have loads of family who will help out. I've phoned about tax credits and they said all i am entitled to is £36 every four weeks. I live with my partner and even though he works full time and gets decent wages it's not enough to support us for the month and for everything! Thanks for all your help I'll definitely phone CAB. I'm honestly stressing so much about it all!!

luckily my parents are having my little boy. I'm going back in 2 weeks, when he's 19 weeks old. but I've got about 1000 extra debt now due to maternity pay not being enough x

I have the problem that I can't afford to not work but equally can't afford to put my kids in childcare full time. 😐
But with my son I did put him in childcare at around 11 months (I know that's a lot later on ☺) but while I found it difficult and odd my son seemed perfectly content. It helped me that he was happy as then I could go to work full time. x

Oh dear that's not nice. do you get help from government? are you getting maternity from your job?
Your baby is still young, try and get advice from CAB.
