Does anyone else deal with anxiety and panic attacks? Mine are usually minor and I don't have to take anything for it but lately, ever since finding out we are expecting, they have gotten much worse. So bad that it is really affecting me. I'm 5 weeks now but I feel like I am scaring myself into these full blown panic attacks where my heart races, I can't catch my breath, can't sleep and it feels like an elephant is sitting on my chest. Usually they don't bug me this much but the fact it is accompanied by chest pain is really starting to scare me. I suffer from a benign arrhythmia (skip in my regular heart rhythm) and those usually trigger attacks but I haven't really been feeling those. Just more feelings of panic, worry, nervousness, etc. What do you do to deal with this? Are there any medications safe to take during pregnancy that can help ease the attacks? I've tried breathing and meditation, constant praying, cold compress, reading, everything and I cannot calm myself down anymore :(

@garayserenity, Thank you so much for your support and advice. I feel the same sometimes, although I don't think that my symptoms are that extreme. But I did have my sister alert my obgyn since she works for her and she will be prepared to handle the situation at my next appt in April. until then we are going to adjust my nausea medication so that incase it's the nausea making me feel so sick this should help. I'd rather weigh all my options before I go for serious medication. So far, all of my pregnancies have been very different and I'm just going to wait to visit my doctor and get her opinion. Thanks for being so sweet and open for chat. I may take you up on that, I would like to know if you have any natural relief for your bipolar disorder, ocd, and anxiety.

@xbbycolletto, thanks for the explanation and advice. I really appreciate it. I had my sister talk to my doctor about it so she knows what is going on before I come in in April for my first appointment. I think a lot of it has to do with the impending nausea that is coming on strong now. my sister is changing my meds (she works for my obgyn) and hopefully the anti nausea will help prevent the attacks. I would love to stay off of medication but if it will help me feel better I will consider it. I was able to play a puzzle on my phone and finally fall asleep last night but I'm still so exhausted! Thanks again for your support, you are so kind! ❤

I have bipolar I disorder, anxiety, OCD, severe depression... While no medication is truly 100% safe while pregnant, please seek help with a medical professional. I got to the point where I started to feel suicidal and was planning on killing myself, full blown panic attacks and passing out. I am seeking advice at how much the pros outweigh the cons. And which medications would help the best with the least risks. There is never a right answer for all women, each case is individual. Please go see a medical professional and ask questions, get informed. Being pregnant is a whole different ballgame than not, so please understand that your health and wellbeing is as important as your baby's! Good luck and I am always available to chat

your hormones may be apart of your chest pains at this point. your body is undergoing a new change. so it could be aiding in some way. I'd say if it gets too bad once you get an ob ask what he or she thinks! but til then definitely keep a wet rag on the back of your neck and chest and just try to relax. I know how hard it is. my anxiety is severe. just find whatever you can to distract yourself. even if that means rearranging some. rooms. or maybe playing with some salt on a table and make figures out of it. or Pinterest and music. coloring anything.

I hope you get to feeling better soon boo

@xbbycolletto, I'm usually really good without medication for my regards anxiety. I can self soothe wit the things mentioned above but nothing is helping this one I'm having right now bc of the chest pain. I think that is what is worrying me me the most. And the fact that I know it won't be the last, plus the anticipation of when the next one will be. it's really starting to stress me out :( thanks for the ideas!

talk to your ob. there are pregnancy safe medications for anxiety and panic attacks. I didn't need meds for mine though. I actually did better off of them during this pregnancy than I was when I was on ativan and buspar. but both of those also were not pregnancy safe. but I find coloring, or music helpful for my attacks when I get them. sometimes I'll even get on Pinterest and look up ideas for my son's nursery
