I had to at first give my son mostly formula I was always thinking I wasn't producing enough but I found out I had flat nipples so it was harder for him to latch before I got the nipple guard Darek would be sucking so much he would get fussy and go to sleep from all the hard work but after I got the guard and started believe in myself play some good music and set a formula goal( just meaning I won't use no more then a certain amount of bottles a day) I noticed a big difference he would latch on better I'm still using formula about 4 oz a day which is 2 bottles I started my goal with 5 bottles a day and gradually took them away by oz. if you want to talk more about it I'll help just message me 😀 good luck

Try calling up la leche league. They may be able to help you out on ways to help him latch. And they might possibly be able to hook you up with a lactation specialist. I had help from them with my oldest when he refused to latch. You got this though mama it's tough but trust me it gets easier!! ❤️ just keep pushing through!

My daughter had a bad latch and by the time we got home from the hospital she only wanted a bottle. She's been formula fed since pretty much day one, and she's done fine. Don't feel bad for giving him formula. As long as your baby is fed that is all that matters.

I get sore from the pump too but it gets better and I'm almost to the point where it doesn't hurt at all. Have you tried hand expressing some and putting it on his lips and into his mouth? That might make him want to latch on. The pump isn't as good at getting milk out so if you get that much then he should definitely be able to!

Maybe he's uncomfortable? You could try different positions, swaddling...it sounds like something is frustrating him, if he's used to a bottle then perhaps he doesn't like to latch because he has nipple confusion...the most I can say is be persistent, offer the breast before anything else, if he's hungry he'll take it! Try dripping some milk on his lips and see if he gets the hint and latches at the taste of it. Of course feed your child a bottle if he refuses for more than a hour or two, but just keep trying and I'm sure you can get him to latch!!!

its because he doesnt seem to be able to latch on my nipple. I try to stick it in his mouth but he just cries and cries and then falls asleep. I feel like maybe its not coming out but when i pump i usually get like 4oz at a time. I was planning on pumping all the time but it leaves my nipples very sore. @hellosweetie @mommy_baby_e

I'm sorry I don't know much about formula, but if you need to boost your supply the best advice I can give you is let the baby feed at the breast as much as possible, don't take baby away until baby unlatches by themselves...I'm not sure if it's a latch issue or what, but I'll tell ya what...I had problems latching my girl for the first 3 weeks of her life, it hurt worse than her birth I swear, and she was a natural, med-free birth! But I pushed through, I kept telling myself one more day, you got this, don't give up...and every day I made it, and now we're 4 months in, exclusively breastfed, and it was SO worth it! Like I said I don't know what your struggles are, but I know if you are really wanting to continue to breastfeed, you are completely capable! I believe on you! And if it doesn't work out, you should NEVER feel guilty because you are doing the BEST that you can for your lil one and that means you're an AMAZING mom!!! Keep up the great work, love that baby, and love yourself mama 😍

Why are you having a hard time? Is it pain or production? My son is barley 2 months and he is breast fed but I thought I wasn't producing enough so I tried to give him a little formula and he hated it and wouldn't take it and I felt guilty as well. I drink a ton of water, mothers milk tea, and just started taking fenugreek pills and I think it's helping a lot! I have tried to mix the formula with breast milk and he still wouldn't take it! It was actually a good thing though cause I really really wanted to breast feed him and it just made me try even harder!

Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no, his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me and did something else with an other girl.... and it's 10:51 am now and he hasn't texted me at all. and after he dropped me off I texted him saying what I felt and nothing. I don't know if I'm over reacting or what or what should i do. do i wait until he text me?

I wanted to do one of these before our breastfeeding journey ended. I have a feeling it’s soon 😔 since her dr has us giving her formula to give her more calories, I’m finding it difficult to give her breastmilk as well. She gets full off of me alone so she doesn’t want the formula if I breastfeed her first. And if I give her formula first, she doesn’t want the breastmilk. I’ve been alternating feedings but that’s just caused my supply to drop. She’s getting chunky, though. That’s all I care about, really.
