Not eligible for Medicaid insurance for the baby😔 which means I have to try to get insured through work which will cost over 200$ a paycheck. People who chose not to work out of pure laziness can get help but because I work hard every single day I can't get any help.

I was working when I applied and they told me that because I was pregnant I will automatically get it. And both of us will have it two months after she's born, then we have to reapply for a different kind. I'm not working anymore because I'm fortunate enough to have my boyfriend who supports us and he wants me to stay home with her. But yeah. I was working 40 hour or more weeks and I still got it

Here in IL everyone and there damn mama gets the Medicaid and Food Stamps, but as you say the ones that work hard for their money. I know plenty of people as you would say out of pure laziness that get it and sit on their asses because everything is handed to them. When I used to work hand in hand with the IL dept. you'd hear stories of people coming from other states just to get the benefits because IL allows almost everyone to get it, but over time they noticed more Full time, working people were getting denied. While the illegal and bums were still receiving. Nothing against the illegal ill say I know many as for my man is Hispanic, but many of them even say themselves why work when we can get food stamps of 500-1000 a month and medical. Its very discouraging to see that the taxpayers money is being tossed around like this, but one day it'll change and theyll see who in reality needs and deserves it. Im just waiting for IL to join in on the Drug Testing for Welfare. You'll see so many people trying to straighten up and get jobs cause they won't have support of the state.

Yes, I understand. But the reality is that very few people get welfare that don't work at all. Most are elderly and hard working people they have a hard time making ends meet.
Have you looked into seeing what plans you can get through ACA? You may be able to find something less than $200 per paycheck.

@gamermommy83, im not saying only people who don't work. I know people who work and get it as well. But it stings the most that people who chose not to work get help when people who put in an effort get help.

I meant Foodstamps. Welfare System sucks. The ones. who really need help from time to time can't get it. or the ones that really need it .

Statistically speaking, over ? of people receiving help from the state work full time jobs. So let's not perpetuate the whole only lazy people that don't work get help when that's not true. I get your frustration, but usually you can reapply after baby is here.

Oh like the DHS office? And yes people like that and like people who come over here illegally and get help and our own citizens can't I think that's wrong. I am on Medicaid and I hope the baby will be able to get it too

I went to the office today and a lady helped me apply...she told me to try again after the baby is born though. It just kills me my neighbor who literally doesn't work because he likes to sleep all day and do drugs gets insurance for him and his daughter that he doesn't watch let alone bathe or buy clothes for was eligible for WIC which I am now not and gets food stamps. I work hard every day and I pay student loans and bills and for food and need just a little help and can't get it. It kills me @california12632
