Что вызывает ночной кашель у дочери?
So my almost 5 year old daughter has this constant cough at night, And it's been going on for I don't know how long a couple months maybe. But the thing is she's not sick, could it be allergies or asthma? that's what I keep reading up on when I Google it. And it always starts after she falls asleep. I put a humidifier in at night and that does nothing. And the only thing I don't like is my husband keeps giving her cough medicine almost every night. I will be calling doctor tomorrow I just don't think they're going to be able to do anything because she's not sick and it's only happening at night so they're not going to witness anything

It could be allergies my son has them, and takes someone over the counter. Does she have a stuffy nose or anything cause post nasal drip can also cause a cough. I would get it looked at and see what they say.

I haven't heard her or seen her do anything with her nose until tonight. I saw her take a tissue and wipe her nose

Acid reflux can make people cough, too. It's worse when you lay down at night because gravity isn't helping as much.

You may try elevating her, add more pillows. I cough due to allergies and sometimes if I lay flat (which I rarely do) saliva falls down my windpipe causing me cough. Also check for mold. Pesky mold can linger on windows due to condensation. I spray and wipe windows often.

We do have mold all around our windows and I constantly have to clean them because they're so old all the moisture leaks in here. Plus she sleeps like 3 ft away from a window. And for the pillow she uses one big pillow and one little pillow so her head's kind of elevated. So maybe I'll check the windows again tomorrow

ours is one pane window so it easily creates moisture so I do it weekly. Hopefully this helps.

It really could be anything. I would ask for a referral to an allergist. They treat my daughter's asthma as well as allergies.

How much and hard is she coughing? I'd probably do something to dry the nasal up and vicks and socks. You could just say she isn't sick but describe the cough, see if they can just tell you something to try over the counter.

No it's not like a sick cough it's really hard to explain it's not really hard deep coughs just like a kind of dry sometimes a little wet of a cough.

I would try Vicks & socks & elevate head. It's like Windex on My Big Fat Greek Wedding.

My 3.5 year old has asthma and he coughs more at night. He has a fan on low to circulate the air and a humidifier above his head. He had his tonsils removed last April (had sleep apnea). His pulmonologist said that gravity sometimes makes it harder to get a good breath so he coughs. I have COPD and allergies, along with sinus issues and I cough a ton in my sleep.

@garay88, our house is incredibly dry, especially in winter. But we use one called canopy that doesn’t make the mist, it just adds moisture into the air. Keeps the bedrooms and living area around 50-60%, which is heavenly for us

See I think it's a possibility it's asthma. My husband had it growing up. I dont know if it's genetic or not.

it can be

It could be the mold, allergies, asthma, or a combination of them. I’m allergic to some molds, so even harmless molds would make me cough or wheeze if I was around them. Definitely get her checked out.

I just think it's crazy how it only happens at night when she is going to bed. It really only starts an hour or so after she has been asleep

It could be related to her adenoids. When we sleep, the muscles relax and the adenoids “fall” into the throat a little bit. If it’s not mold or allergies, you could ask for a referral to an ENT.

I only cough at night it's always my acid reflux or when the air is extremely dry outside and it's always once I have fallen asleep.
