Any advice would be greatly appreciated. My daughter has been having accidents, peeing herself. At this point I wouldn’t say they are actually accidents because when I ask her why she is peeing herself she tells me because so and so was reading a story, or that she was playing.....I remind her all the time that she needs to use the bathroom when she is playing or in school. So my question is, other then taking her tv away as a punishment, what else could I do? ( no spanking ) Do I take away other things that she enjoys?

I know a lot of ya’ll said regression. I just want to state that she’s been potty trained for over a 1 1/2 years. She had her very first sleep over Saturday, so I’m not sure if that could also play into this situation too. When she gets to busy playing is when she has accidents.

I also let her help me with whatever she wants. If she asks to hold baby, I let her hold the baby of course with my help. This little girl does more then I think any 4 year old should do because she’s so hands on and I can’t tell her no.

I’m actually going to give this another 2-3 days to see if anymore accidents occur because she had 4 more accidents since I posted this...and then I’m going to call her doctor to be on the safe side to make sure there is absolutely nothing wrong/going on!

She’s regressing because of the new baby. My daughter was the same way but she was 3.5. They weren’t accidents, they were deliberate. She’d sit on the toilet and hold it while sitting, then after 20 mins of that she’d go into her room to pee in her pants. Clearly not an accident. I had to start a new reward system for her which at the time was a sticker chart and that helped a lot. After a few months, I think around age 4 she was finally back on track. It takes time. Even now at 6, I have to be on top of her to make sure she goes to the bathroom because she hates drinking water and will go 4+ hours without peeing 😳

Whatever you do, do NOT punish her for it. It WILL make things worse.

Ugh makes me so sad that people actually punish for this :( it’s seriously a sign that something could be wrong.

@momgroupreject Me too. 🥺 Especially in a child previously potty trained. Like, SOMETHIN is goin on. Punishing the poor baby is just going to teach her not to talk about her feelings with Mama cause she gets in trouble.

Regressions are normal. Don’t punish for it. Just set timers and be more strict about scheduling bathroom breaks

I would assume it’s for attention due to the new baby. My son has only been potty trained about a year at this point but I can’t really see myself ever punishing him before he’s school aged for potty accidents. I would sit her down and talk about the new baby though, give her important big girl jobs to help you with him so she feels like she’s more involved, see if the accidents continue or stop.

It's not uncommon for children to regress in potty training. I would start over from the beginning. She'll pick it up more quickly this time. I wouldn't punish her because that will likely make it worse.

I can't take it anymore! Haley (yes my 1mth old and no I wasn't able to go through this "joy" of nursing my older daughter, Molly) has been screaming non stop for 6hrs! All she wants to do is eat and I can't have her attached to me all day, everyday! She has wanted to eat every hr on the hr for the past 3hrs! I put her in her room so I don't scream at her but I just can't take it!

lillyb Good job giving ur self a break we all need them. See if maybe she will nurse
delete____ I have to commend you for stepping away, momma!! Everyone reacts to a child screaming differently and
imisssleep123456789 Ugh I remember those days. With both kids I decided to always top them off with formula.
