This may be a touchy subject, but I figured I’d share.

I’m seeing quite a few posts about having more patience with their children as a new year resolution. And I totally respect and totally understand that.

I, thankfully, do not suffer from depression or anxiety, but I do have a very short fuse when it comes to anger and irritability. About 3/4 months ago I talked to my doctor about how Irritable I was, and we decided to try Lexapro (the off brand).

GAME CHANGER.

I have so much more patience. I am in such a better mood. The little things that used to set me off before don’t at all anymore.

I figured I share - you don’t necessarily have to have anxiety or depression, but just just a short fuse. 😅💕

I can totally relate to this...my anxiety manifests as anger. I'm not an angry person at all but when I'm anxious I snap at people. A lot of people don't understand that ssri aren't just for anxiety and depression. Also anxiety and depression is not always black and white and can manifest in multiple ways.

Yes! So true! I guess I shouldn’t say I don’t have anxiety, because in reality I probably do = it just presents itself as irritability.

Agreed. My lack of patience is definitely anxiety driven. I had my ob write a prescription at my post natal checkup for my tried and true SSRI that is just waiting for me to fill at the pharmacy once I am done pumping. Sometimes I just need to take it for a little while to get myself back to who I know I am supposed to be

So I posted on Nextdoor about needed to find a babysitter. Just to have in our back pocket ya know? Well this 17 year old girl responded and when we spoke she informed me that she doesn’t drive and she has mental health issues. She said and I quote “I have some mental health issues, such as depression and anxiety, but I’d never hurt kids. Even if they were being rough I would ever hurt them” I got such a weird ass vibe from her. Like who says that? I’m totally ok with mental health issues, don’t we all have them, aren’t we all sometimes depressed or anxious? But to say u would never hurt children rubbed me the wrong way. What do ladies think about that?
