Lots of kids don’t talk at 18 months but he should be walking. If he wants to be carried then he should be checked out by a doctor because maybe he has a condition with his bones or muscles but cannot express himself. A friend of mine found out her daughter has pediatric arthritis and it was painful for her to walk. She was walking at 12 months but she always wanted to be carried. Her mom thought she was just being clingy but turns out it was actually painful for her to walk. She couldn’t jump or climb.

My daughter couldn't walk or talk at a year and a half. She's autistic

@hardknockmama yeah I had plenty of people tell me that my daughter's delays weren't a big deal either, but they were wrong and if I would have listened to them because I couldn't face the truth I would have wasted valuable time and I have no doubt my daughter wouldn't be doing as well as she is today.

It would be a good idea to have professionals make the decision if his delays are worth worrying about or not. Because yes, children do develop in different ways and some kids will be fine and will catch up with their peers all on their own, but other kids need extra help and the sooner they get that help the better the overall outcome.

Just an fyi

Please let the child's mother know that... You can contact Early Intervention yourself you don't need a doctor's referral.

Honestly contacting EI was one of the best things I have ever done for my daughter.

Once you contact EI they will send a therapist out to your home and evaluate.. If the child is found to have a 30% delay in any area and are under 3 years old they will qualify for services.

EI will send out whatever therapists that are needed to the home on a weekly basis. EI also works on a sliding scales based on income so it's extremely affordable.

My daughter saw a Developmental therapist, a Physical therapist, an Occupational Therapist, and a Speech Therapist all in our home and it only cost us $20 a month which was a godsend since my daughter didn't receive her autism diagnosis until she was 3 years old and our insurance wouldn't cover her therapies without a diagnosis and her therapy cost over $100 an hour which we simply couldn't afford. But EI allowed our daughter to receive her much needed therapies.

A quick google search should supply you with your state's early intervention phone number or your pediatrician should have their contact information

@hardknockmama all the services that he would need. For example physical therapy got my daughter walking, Developmental and speech therapy helped my daughter learn to talk. Occupational therapy helped my daughter with her gross and fine motor skills and balance because her vestibular system is wonky, once she learned to walk she walked like she was drunk and stumbled around and would walk right into walls because she had no concept of where her body was in space. All of those therapies were given to her through early intervention until she aged out at 3 years old.

EI also immediately got her into preschool the moment she turned 3 and set up all of her needed therapies through the school and came with me for my daughter's first IEP with the school

Seriously, contacting EI was one of the best things I've ever done for my daughter. She will be 5 in August and she walks, runs, jumps, climbs, is more steady on her feet and is less clumsy, she talks, she can read knows all of her numbers and shapes etc etc she's thriving

Maybe gently suggest that they have the child evaluated by early intervention. Every child develops differently but if what you say is true she could be on track for falling behind. 1.5 isn't too far behind for these milestones though.

Its a boy. He never even tries . he just reaches for them cause he know they are going to pick him up. 😞 like no effort is being made. 😞

@hardknockmama that's typical of younger children and not out the norm. If there isn't any physical or intellectual concerns then he will catch up eventually.

My exes daughter was 1 1/2 and couldn’t walk when I met them. Anytime I watched her, I wouldn’t carry her any where. If she wanted to be where we were. She crawled. Eventually she started walking.

@hardknockmama, all kids have the capability to do things, if they are allowed and encouraged.

Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no, his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me and did something else with an other girl.... and it's 10:51 am now and he hasn't texted me at all. and after he dropped me off I texted him saying what I felt and nothing. I don't know if I'm over reacting or what or what should i do. do i wait until he text me?

Ok, so my friend is wanting to get pregnant but..... Her fiancé does not want kids, at lease for another 3-5 years he said... so she came up with the idea to have me pee on a stick for her and show it to him so that he’ll be comfortable with not wearing a condom and finishing in her.. basically the whole idea is to make him think she’s pregnant already...... so I do this favor for her or should I tell my girl to chill? He and my husband are friends through us and he’s going to invite him over tonight and run it by him...

How do you help someone whose been the victim of domestic violence? My best friends husband was abusive. He beat the crap out of her multiple times until the very last time when he almost killed her and I called the cops in her town because she wasn’t going to. She left him, but he keeps trying to weezle his way back in. This morning he arrived with a police escort to get the rest of his stuff from the apartment. There is a TPO in place. That asshole tried to kiss her when the cops weren’t looking and she didn’t say anything. Like you haven’t already done enough to her already?!?!? You’ve broken her. How can I help her to move past him and heal herself? Can I help her to move past him? Are there support groups for women who’ve left a DV situation?
