Ladies who have done grocery pick up at Walmart — I just made my first order to be picked up tomorrow.. when I made the order it asked me if it would be alright to sub items if they did not have the item I picked... is it a normal occurrence for them to not have the items I requested? A lot of items were already sold out.. so shouldn’t the items I asked for be available if they are not listed as sold out on the app? Sorry if that’s a confusing question 🤣

My friend uses that app and I asked her about using it now. She told me not to try in our local area bc they were pretty much out of everything and it was making for a lot of confusion and the orders weren't being filled right now. Give it a try and see how they do and know that under normal circumstances the option is a great one to utilize.

Yeah it happens a lot especially right now with everything that’s going on. You can refuse it or accept it.

It’s normal. When I do a grocery order, I normally have 2-3 subs at least. But if you don’t like the subs they pick, you can deny them when you get to the store to pick up and you won’t be charged. Even if it says it’s not out of stock, it might be by the time they do your order.

Usually if you allow subs they will give you a bigger package than what you ordered for the price of the smaller. If they can't do that they will try to sub with a similar item. Walmart app is nice as it will show you what is out of stock, other stores don't have that ability. If the item didn't say it is currently out of stock then chances are you will get exactly what you picked. If you have an order placed for later in the day, your chances of getting all your order 100% will slim down due to other orders being picked and people shopping in store.

It is. Check your email before pick up and it will show you what they subbed. When you get there you can tell them which subs you will accept.

Normally I rarely get subs but they ask you when you get there or on email. But considering everything going on expect alot of substitutions.

Yes that is normal. Things that are on the shelves now may not be by the time they are shopping for your order tomorrow. It’s not a situation where they reserve the items as soon as you place your order. You will have a chance to approve or decline the subs but definitely count on quite a few during this time

yes. If the exact item is unavailable they will not try to replace it and instead refund you

The last order I did had 29 unavailable items. My order was hours late...wasn't ready until 8 o'clock at night. Then waited 45 minutes for them to bring it out to the car. They were so busy it was insane, I feel so bad for those employees right now, it's just crazy. I haven't even been able to get an available time slot in weeks. I have always used pick up even before all this & there is always a few substitutions. I always opt for substitutes bc they almost always replace it with a larger size or quantity for the same price as the cheaper item, so you end up making out. And if you don't like the substitutes you just ask them to remove the item from your order.

That’s crazy. I made the order Friday night for Sunday and they had almost every time slot available, but when I went back Saturday morning to see if I could switch to an earlier time slot, they were all gone. I should have accepted subs 🤦🏼♀️ but I am going to go pick up the order in about an hour so we will see what I get lol
