So I’m always looking at thrift/second hand stuff online, and in stores, and I’m always on fb marketplace lmao. I don’t really buy anything for the most part I’m just browsing. But isn’t it like a rule you’re not supposed to buy stuff like car seats second hand? Or am I just imagining that? Even so, can you even use a infant car seat without a base? Like is that legal . I always thought you had to have a base! I already have my car seat and base I just always see them especially on fb..
Idk if it matters but I live in Georgia.

You can use a car seat without a base. You aren't supposed to buy second hand carseats because you don't know the history. If people got into any type of car accidents or if they attached it to the top of a shopping cart (if it has a base).

@mandehhhx3 that's okay. I typically use the ones made for carseats. I guess idk if the mess with that part. I just assumed when I heard the click when I snapped it in the base I was okay. 🤷♀️ I dont know forsure I guess I'll have to pay better attention

I didn’t know before having my son either lol because you see it happen everywhere. I live in a small town and a lot of moms still do. We don’t have the ones made for carseats in any stores here so I’m not sure about that. These mom apps have really informed me about a lot of the dangers of certain things that I wasn’t aware of.

In all honesty I've bought second hand car seats that's why you check it make sure it's not damaged and it's not expired it's fine just gotta do home work and get info first

You can use an infant carseat without the base , well all the ones I had allowed it.
However you definitely should not buy a used carseat. The only way I would is if I knew that person personally and knew the history

As long as the dates are up to date should be fine ..all we can buy is used stuff 🤷🏼♀️ but it’s up to you ppl seek them at garage sales what’s the difference
