On our way home today I saw a motorcyclist without a helmet, and asked my fiance why, even when it isn't legally required, do people not want to wear a helmet while on a motorcycle? It's something so simple that can save your life. He said that it's the same as people not wearing seatbelts, or not using a carseat correctly. I just don't understand. Something so simple, so easy, and so quick, to help protect us, and some people choose not to. Why? It's barely a minute more to ensure your safety. Accidents happen no matter what you do, so why not do everything you can to make sure you'll be okay if one happens?

I work in a body shop. It’s not legally required to wear a motorcycle helmet in Rhode Island, but passengers must. In Mass, you must wear one. In Connecticut, no one has to wear one. I heard the body men talking about how after they finish working on a bike, how they hate driving it to Mass because they hate wearing a helmet. As a driver, he said it impairs them.

@oktoberwitch, yeah but imagine how impaired he would be if he crashed without a helmet on I ride dirt bikes with a helmet I see just fine
