Mommies, thoughts on picking up or coddling a newborn every time they cry?
My baby’s been fussy the last couple of days and me or my husband will pick her up every time she cries and she’s getting used to that I’m assuming. I just don’t want her to be fussy and she cries like someone’s murdering her.
And it's totally normal to feel this way. You aren't alone! Don't compare your baby with others because it's just gonna drive you crazy..
You are her mother and only you knows what's best for her.
You cant over cuddle a newborn. They need constan contact. You start over cuddling when theyre able to sleep through the night and are already showing signs of independence like sitting up, crawling, etc. A newborn is in need of constant warmth, touch and affection. If your baby is fussing, she needs you.
@phoebesmommy, well I’m ready for this fourth trimester stuff to be over with, but idk about 18 months from now 😭😭😭
@selena_lalu, thanks lol that was almost 18 months ago!
@phoebesmommy, omg, she’s a cutie!!! Thank you 😊
@selena_lalu, omg I just looked at your profile and saw her. She’s so beautiful!! We had the same blanket and headband wrap 😍😍😍
@phoebesmommy, those links were EXTREMELY helpful!!! I never knew fourth trimester was a thing. Thank you sooooo much!

@selena_lalu, you’re doing great! Feed her before she’s crying and make sure you’re burping her. And hold her close. It’ll be a blink of an eye and she will be so big 😭 I’m giving myself baby fever
@girlmom., @phoebesmommy, thank y’all so much. I feel so helpless. I thought with having so many cousins and sisters in my family as babies that it would come natural and fairly easily. But there’s shit you never even hear about or experience that’s so real. I just want her to be my happy baby and I want to take care of her the way she deserves.
@selena_lalu hang in there!! It does get easier.
Baby wearing helps a lot! That's how I get house work, laundry, cooking etc done
@selena_lalu, there are a lot of knowledgeable mommies here for you 💗
@phoebesmommy, my mom was here
The first week she was born and then she had to go back to Texas. Man I wish my mom was here. I felt really emotional and down when she left after that first week. 😣
4th trimester is very real! I didn't even know about it till I had my 3rd baby.
Always pick baby up. Your all she's known for 9 months. The world is scary for baby.
Girl I remember when I had my first. It was like day 8 or 9 and I had no idea what I was doing. I just sat and cried. I felt so lost and my mom and I weren’t in a good place so I didn’t have anyone to turn to. But you get it as you go. 💗 don’t let anyone tell you you’re spoiling her.
And remember... this world is a big, new, and very unfamiliar place for her. Her eyesight is very underdeveloped but she knows you’re there when you hold her and she can smell you.
@selena_lalu
YOU CAN'T SPOIL A NEWBORN!!! Hold your baby and nurse on demand. The 4th trimester is a real thing.
Oh also OP remember you have emotional needs too. She may be tiny but hers are very real. She may just need you a lot physically
@selena_lalu most babies that breastfeed won't take a pacifier it also can cause her confusion nipple confusion And you cannot spoil a newborn baby this right now her cries are telling you she's hungry she scared or she's hurting.
You got this mama. Worry about spoiling when she’s able to look at you and defy you lol
You cannot spoil her! Pick her up, soothe her, feed her on demand! You’re not spoiling her — you’re doing what your baby needs to feel happy, loved, and comforted. 💜
@selena_lalu, you have the natural inclination to pick her up. Go w instinct and never worry ab spoiling her.
@lillynellasmom, I give her the pacifier. Sometimes she wants it and sometimes she doesn’t. I’m just new to this and don’t want to spoil her, but want her to be comfortable and happy 🙁
@selena_lalu if your breastfeeding then she wants a pacifier on you that helps calm her down and soothe her.
Sometimes nursing is around the clock. Hang in there mama
@selena_lalu, until she’s like 6-7 months you really should nurse on demand. Don’t wait til she’s crying to nurse her.
Look for nursing cues like rooting, where they move their mouth to suckle. She should be nursing every 1.5-2hrs but right now you want to focus on surpassing her birthweight
@badkitty4, @phoebesmommy, I do burp her for a while. What about thoughts on breastfeeding her every time she wants to be breastfed? Most of the time when she’s crying she starts reaching and mouthing for my boobs.
Absolutely pick baby up. Could be gassy. It’s very painful for them and they can’t move to do anything about it. Make sure you’re burping her well before and after feedings
@badkitty4, I’ve heard that and that’s what I try to tell myself 😭

I love how I repeatedly told my father in law not to let my daughter root through the toy box because she doesn’t want anything out of it anyway and he keeps picking her up and taking her to the toy box no matter how many times I tell her no and tell him she doesn’t even want anything out of there anyway. At first I told him “only let her get one toy” so she picks one up and he is still holding her over the toy box then tries to put her over the baby gate so she can grab more. I’m sorry but you ...
My little babydoll cries every time after she eats. She squirms around pretty much the whole time she sleeps too and wakes up multiple times fussy. I’m guessing it’s just gas but this mamma is exhausted. I’m the only one who wakes up with her at night and it’s hard. I hate when I feel myself getting frustrated because I love her and I know it’s not her fault, but lord knows I underestimated how exhausted I would be. I try to savor every moment she’s not fussy, which is not often. I miss sleep 😫
Baby won't bear weight on leg
I have a walking 10 month old and she has been extra fussy yesterday and today. Today I noticed she didn't really want to crawl, she would just cry until I came and picked her up. After I fed her, I tried setting her down to play with her big sister and she just started crying and wouldn't put any weight on her left leg. She will put weight down on her right leg but then just cries until you pick her back up. I thought maybe she just didn't want to be put down (as ...
When will this girl realize I'm not baby sitting for her she keeps asking me I watched her son one time and then decided not to because she was only able to pay 100 every two weeks and I was supposed to pick him up and drop him off and feed him sry not happening and she is getting on my nerves messaging me I think I'm gonna block her she needs to get another baby sitter that will be willing to baby sit 4 or so days every week for 100 every two weeks that's a rip off not worth my time what do y'a...
My baby girl does not let me do anything all day 😭 I'm lucky if everything is done before my s.o gets home , she cried so I pick her up to feed her and change her diaper and once she's on my breast she eats and I burp her put her down and she'll cry I get her again and she's on my breast not even latched on just smelling my boobs 😭 I'm like girl really lmao she wants me to carry her or be with her all day , girl I wish I could lmao
