When did you ladies start giving your baby’s puffs?

I’m sorry for the long post but I feel the need to explain:

Our doctor said we could try them even though she probably doesn’t have her pincher grasp yet (that was about a month and a half ago). She now has two teeth since and we figured she would be able to chew better because she chews on her spoon and opens her mouth up and down to make sounds, which she didn’t do before. Our doctor also said if she gets one in her mouth, it won’t hurt since they dissolve so quickly. They don’t dissolve fast enough for me tbh. Unless it was just that one brand. But she was getting several in her mouth and it was fine until she tried to swallow one kind of whole and choked and threw up and I had to pull it out of her mouth. I’m terrified of trying them again but I know she can’t eat purée for the rest of her life... 😫

He was around 7m. She won't really learn how to do the bouncer grasp without practice, so it does help. But, try only putting one or two in front of her at a time. And yes, he has had issues with gagging and too much at one time, but he also won't learn how much he can put in his mouth without practice and trial-and-error.

We did start with the rice rusks too. I hated those. They dissolved so easily that everything was covered in melted crackers.

Baby Mum Mum rice rusks dissolve more easily than the puffs, I would try those first.

@princessrose, I think it’s just natural for your baby to gag on new foods and textures. My son was a whole lot worse then my daughter. The gagging is scary, but my son still will gag at 2 1/2 years, if he gets too much in his mouth. Small pieces always, nothing sticky or dry, and you should be alright. It’s so much fun when your baby starts to eat table foods. My 11 month old girl is such a good eater. My husband and I look upon her in absolute amazement when she eats!

At about 7 months we tried puffs and my baby would start gagging if they got on the back of her tongue. We used the rice husks. They seemed to dissolve a lot better and she loved them. 2 months later my girl is entirely on solid food. No more purees. When she was able to handle the puffs she wanted nothing to do with them. I give her Cheerios or veggie straws as a snack now.

@glencoco, I should say several in her mouth, but not at the same time. Idk if that was confusing. But okay! I’ll look into what I can do to get that started

@mommytok, my daughter, last time we gave them to her, just let her play with them and then I showed her how to pick them up and eat them she went to town. Lol.

But idk. I’m scared again. 😅

Try just one at a time. You can wait if you want. They’re not necessary. You can teach them to grasp and feed themselves with other foods. I don’t think I used them till after 8 months.

I’m right there with you.. my daughter definitely doesn’t have her pincer grasp down yet and I don’t know if giving her something like puffs would help her figure it out, or just be too soon 😩

I hate my generation sometimes ?

I hate my generation sometimes ? Today was my nieces baby shower, which went great. She got so much which amazing since she's been working 2 jobs trying to save up for the unpaid leave she'll have to take from work. Anyways I was talking to one of the ladies there since my son and her daughter were playing together. I asked her what her daughters name was, she said it was Layla. I told her that's a really pretty name and asked her if she was a Clapton fan and if she was named after the song. This girl had no idea who Eric Clapton is. ? ♀ One of the most iconic songs, and she had no idea. I hate my generation. ?

Dad's FB Video!! Did anyone see that video a dad posted on his daughters FB page? He saw a post she made where she bashed her parents and cursed them, called them lazy and told them they should pay her for stuff she did around the house... So he called her out on it and put the video on her page!! Sorry if I missed a post already about this already, but I just saw the video and IT WAS AWESOME!!! Hahahhaa!

I love how I repeatedly told my father in law not to let my daughter root through the toy box because she doesn’t want anything out of it anyway and he keeps picking her up and taking her to the toy box no matter how many times I tell her no and tell him she doesn’t even want anything out of there anyway. At first I told him “only let her get one toy” so she picks one up and he is still holding her over the toy box then tries to put her over the baby gate so she can grab more. I’m sorry but you aren’t the one that has to pick up all these toys. You aren’t the one who has to put them back. He never picks up toys. Everyone wants to get the toys out for her out no one ever wants to help me pick them back up. The fact that I said not to let her get anything out of the box more than 5 times really pisses me off. You may be her grandparent but you aren’t her parent. So now I have mass toys to pic up on top of the toys she already had out from this morning

I hate doing this to her but I really don't want her to suck her fingers. She sucks the middle and index finger. She refuses any pacifier I give her. She already has one tooth at the bottom and I don't want her to be sucking them when the top ones come in. The doctor said it's a phase and it'll pass but I'm afraid she won't and spoil her teeth. Did any of your kids just stopped by themselves or did you have to do this?
