Sugargliders
So I feel like I've made a huge mistake. First off,I dont take pet ownership lightly and I did research, but I didn't research diseases until it was too late. We bought a baby glider today. I'm 38 wks pg and freaking OUT about it being near the infant now. Does anyone here own them? Can you offer peace if mind? Am I overreacting?
well it cried all night. dh had to get up and play with it at 5:30,then it napped. The breeder called and said nooo take backs, which I understand. I used to breed show fish and I wouldnt want to just toss a fish that had been gone a day back with my others. Its eating today and not screaming and lunging so thats good I guess.
He said it would sell in 24-48 hrs on craigslist if we go that route.
Im also shocked....being Australian they are a protected, native species. How is it that you can keep them as pets???
Moreover, why would you want to keep them as pets??? Lol it would be like have a flying fox or possum! Hahaha
If anyone is interested, I have a mother and baby possum that are living in my house at the moment and are being a right pain in my ass! I was gonna pay someone to catch them, but if anyone wants a new pet......
thanks, girl. I'm leaving the bonding to hubby and my 13 yo dd,I'll do the food but otherwise I'm pretty disinterested in it what with a baby on the way and I have a dog by my side 24/7. I'm just gonna have to remind my pigpen of a husband to wash his hands constantly. And if I can get used to its squawking,I'll keep it..
My husband says they are not disease in your hand but theydp carry disease like a cat or dog would. They are very hard to take care of like a baby high maintance. They need a partner And they need to bond with a family.
I think you you should take extra precaution of cleansing but you should keep it and bond.
You know like its your dragon! Bond!
Thank you breeze. He's only 8 wks old,my dh says to ask your hubby if they're "disease in your hand?" (lol,he so wants to keep it)
also, aware they need companionship, I'd get another if I knew for sure it wasnt..furry death to babys.
I'm gonna try to take him to the breeder tomorrow but I'm worried he wont take it back. I'm willing to take a cut on the cost but I'm not just gonna give it to him at a total loss. I could sell it if I tried,I'm sure.
I can't believe you are allowed to keep them as pets. They are a protected native animal in Australia and illegal as pets.
I agree with a previous poster. If you can take it back to the breeder where you got it, do it! I think you'll be hard pressed with a newborn and a high maintenance pet.
oh its already a pain in the ass. I'm more concerned with germs/disease atm though. I dont want it making the baby sick!
Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no,
his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me...
TWW!!

Short Luteal Phase?
I've just started temping because I believe that the reason I haven't had a BFP yet, after 20 months, is because I believe I may have a Luteal Phase Defect.
I had to google them. Eek!! ?
