Is this about that girl Jasmine Richardson? I thought she was released already? Unless I'm thinking of something else. She murdered her parents and little brother with her 23 year old boyfriend.

I hope part of her release is a contingency for continued monitored mental health care. For a 12 year old to do that, mental illness is definitely involved and she needs to continue receiving help. I can't imagine that 10 years in prison has made her mentally healthier.

It seems like everyone in that article was just like "well, just gotta wait and see if she murders again. She's got serious mental problems, there's just no telling!"

I also read (not sure if it's true) that she's getting (or had) a complete name change. So even the few people who knew her from before won't be able to recognize her by name now. A complete fresh start.

That's really sad. You have to be in some bad circumstances and/or have mental issues to do something like that as a child. I hope she got mental help while she was locked away.

Tried as a minor. That's the maximum sentence for a child here. 10 years. Free university. Their helping her get on her feet. She really played the system there.

Ugh, I remember this story all too well. It's way too close to home. I would never be able to have any contact with her again.

She was told she's not to see her boyfriend. She snuck out for a while to spend time with him and it basically escalated from there. She told him that she wanted to get rid of her parents. He bludgeoned her mom and dad and no one has fully confessed to her brothers murder. She planned it all out there were plans in her locker and everything. I found out about her bf and we kinda grew apart because of that. Next thing I know I was riding my bike to her house and it was all taped off. Their 8 year old neighbor initially discovered the bodies. He went over to play. Knocked on the door with no answer and looked in the basement window and found one of them lying on the ground and told his parents. It's awful.

My ex killed his girlfriend and only got 7 years. When he got out he tried contacting me. I was like no thank you.

Yes. Medicine hat. I feel like she's going to try and find me to talk about things. I'm not in any directories or phone books I've already told my family not to give out my phone number or address. I'm not planning on contacting her.

I agree deb. I'm just saying that I don't think it's a normal train of thought for a 12 year old. Most 12 year olds "hate" their parents some days. But they don't take out their entire family. Not normal.

I wouldn't pursue any kind of contact with her with either. It would just be waaaaaay too much to take on.

However, when I hear things like this, I have to imagine that there was something severely wrong, in that 12 year olds life. It doesn't make it OK, or right in ANY way. But it's definitely not normal, for a child, to do something so horrendous. And if she had a 23 year old boyfriend at 12... That says a lot, I think.
