Feed your baby all the time. If it gets sore. Take a hot shower and express by hand it's really not that hard. I didn't start using a pump until a few months in but when I did I really didn't like it at all. Pumps are mainly used if you need to store milk.

Insurance covers breast pumps now. Contact your company and they'll tell you your providers and then you can pick a pump from there.

I say get one even if a small hand pump like Avent. Sometimes latching issues come up and you need to pump to release some milk or you're making a lot and need to express. If I didnt have to pump due to my full time job, I promise you, I would not! I absolutely hated pumping!!!! I am in awe of women who exclusively pump. I don't know how they do it.

If you're around baby 24/7 you don't really need a pump. I work full time and will have to pump. Also pumping allows dad to feel involved. My hubby was out of this world excited when he got to feed our son for the first time. Doctors don't recommend bottles until 4 weeks. At least that's what mine said.

Your insurance might give you s pump, or you can rent from the hospital I believe. That way if you're only planning on bf one month the baby can still get the milk!

You can do it without. I ended up starting to pump with my last because I started to develop mastitis. That's the only reason I pumped early on. Then continued to build a supply in freezer for when I went back to work

Pumping is not necessary at all if you are planning to feed exclusively from the breast. Baby to breast is the best way to keep producing.
